The view from our campsite was absolutely beautiful! The 25 mi washboard road leading to the campground had me second-guessing the decision to go there with my new trailer. But I’m really happy I made it and found a new beautiful and secluded spot. I went on the 24th of July weekend and there was only one other campsite being used.

I reserved my site online before going, but there is no camp host so no one marked the site as reserved. We showed up late to the campsite and someone thought it was first-come-first-served and was all set up in our spot. Extremely frustrating for both of us. Made for a difficult night. We made it work, but this shouldn’t be a worry when you reserve the campsite ahead of time. Someone please fix this process!

Our visit was great. But the problem with half the campground being closed and all fcfs was an issue. We contacted Recreation.gov by email but got no resolution. We reserved all of our spots.(7) in January. We get there and people were in our site.

Campground improvements are wonderful! The views are amazing. New restrooms are clean. Tent pads are flat. The wind was horrible.

Simpson Springs Campground is accessible via I-80, with the nearest exit located approximately 40 miles north on Highway 36. The campground is further reached by traveling south on Pony Express Road.
