Wide open spaces, spectacular views, dish washing station, flush toilets and mule deer roaming around. Loved our time at Capitol Reef. Make sure you catch the Ranger Talks, the pie and ice cream, some hikes and enjoy the amazing peace and quiet without WiFi and cell service.

Renegade 38ft, early November 2024 - the Fruita CG was absolutely beautiful including the drive in. The orchards & buildings with the surroundings are gorgeous. That being said, we loved a one night stay BUT 2 gen hours in the morning & 2 hrs in the evening leave our batteries lacking. We are ADA and tried the ADA site but electrical box is locked and marked Medical Devices Only. If we were to do it again, wed do a one nighter and move on.Capitol Reef NP 2024- Fruita CG is located on the Scenic Road thru the NP. However, just past the CG, the Scenic Road is closed for 2024. The visitor center parking lot is under construction. The Chimney trailhead parking is closed due to construction. We talked to a ranger on how to see Capitol Reef. Basically, a 4-8 hour backtrack out of the park on back roadssome 4X4. Therefore, I wouldnt spend a lot of time here, personally. Obviously, the admin has a Spend it Or Loose it for 2024 approach. Zero cell service - Starlink 100mbs We camped at Fruita Campground in a Motorhome.

A wonderful campground surrounded by the red cliffs of southern Utah and the fruit orchards of the pioneers. Level pads for the rv and lots of shade trees. Heated, clean restrooms. As of Oct 2024 the scenic road is closed and the visitor centers parking lot is still under construction. No cell service but the visitor center has free wi-fi. But still lots to see in the area. Go to the Gifford House and buy a pie. (they sell out early everyday) and take a walk along the Fremont river trail. Truly a beautiful setting. Enjoy!!

Camp sites are close together, but it is a great campground. Bathrooms are nice, clean, and heated. Hosts were nice.

Beautiful location. Quiet campground with Loops A&B for no generators.No hookups. Well maintained pads. Clean fire rings. Many trails accessed directly from the campground. Ample parking (off season). Cinnamon rolls were still cooking at the first part of November. Bathroom was uniformly clean and delightfully (womens BR) heated. Toilet stalls, no showers, air hand dryers. We would have had to go to Torrey 11 m away for wood as we didnt see any at the "store" or park office. Delightfully- no cell service but there is a pay phone in the campground for calls/emergency and wifi just at the visitor center.
Unfortunately the scenic drive was closed for road work (but it was on the NP website, so we knew in advance).

Camping in the campground was great. The deer herd wanders through, obviously acclimated to the visitors. We did the Orchard tour, two geology talks (all were really informative and interesting), and we did a couple of hikes. Great Park!

Traveling westbound on Interstate 70: Take Utah State Highway 24 west towards Hanksville (exit 149). Stay on Highway 24 for 80 miles (129 km) to reach the park Visitor Center.
Traveling on Interstate 15: Take US Highway 50 east at Scipio (exit 188) towards Salina for 30 miles (48 km). At the junction with Utah State Highway 89/259, turn right (south) and travel 8 miles (13 km). Turn left (east) onto Utah State Highway 24 towards Sigurd. Continue on Highway 24 for 82 miles (132 km) to reach the park Visitor Center.

Generators Hours: Mountain Daylight Time (Mar.–Nov.): 8 am–10 am and 6 pm–8 pm. Mountain Standard Time (Nov.–Mar.): 8 am–10 am and 5 pm–7 pm. From March 1 through Thanksgiving weekend, generators are only permitted in the C loop. The remainder of the year, generators are allowed in Loops A and B. Quiet hours are from 10 pm to 6 am. Wildlife. Campers often see Mule Deer in the campground. Do not approach or feed them. As a visitor, you are responsible for your safety and the safety of the animals. Keep a distance of 30 feet between you and deer. You are responsible for backing up to a safe distance, even if the deer moves toward you. |

Horses. Do not enter horse pastures where horses are present. Do not feed the horses. |

Hanging Lines. Hammocks, clotheslines, and slacklines are permitted only during daylight hours (unless the hammock is currently occupied i.e. you are sleeping for the night in your hammock), in your own campsite, and in such a way that no resource damage occurs.
