What Guests Are Saying
Fruita Campground is a beautiful, family-friendly site nestled among fruit orchards and stunning red cliffs, offering a peaceful atmosphere and excellent hiking opportunities. Clean bathrooms, friendly hosts, and unique amenities like fruit picking contribute to a memorable camping experience. While some sites require improvements for better tent setups and there are occasional issues with flies, overall, visitors appreciate the campground's charm and its proximity to Capitol Reef National Park.

We stayed in the C loop and thought the sites were all very nice. It’s in a perfect location right near the amphitheater and the historic fruit orchards. We loved being able to walk over and pick fresh apricots.

The National Park campgrounds are far superior to private campgrounds. I've camped at Capital Reef three times and always considered may stays some of the best. you can hike right from the camp sites. The trees and the store are plus.

This site has at least some shade for most of the day, including at the back of the driveway, so it's a good option for a camper. Driveway was pretty level. It is close enough to the kiosk that I usually got WiFi in the site. But the picnic table is in the sun right around lunch and dinner, from about 11am to 1pm, and 6-8pm, in July, making cooking difficult. This site had no grass, while other sites in the campground had much more grass.

Campground is beautiful, situated in groves of fruit trees. It’s next to historic Gifford House that sells small delicious pies and jams. It also is at the entrance to the Capitol Reef scenic drive, well worth doing.
Only complaint was that the ladies room in loop C where we were had no light at night. There are no showers.

Beautiful orchards the deer walk and graze in. Lots of birds and bats!
Clean restrooms and camp host and ranger made regular rounds.
It was nice to not hear generators after 8pm, as some of the camp sites are close together.
Only negative was the hoses that are everywhere. They can be trip hazards after dark. Would be much better to have them run along the gulches and not directly through the camp sites or have glow in the dark tape on them.

The grounds were very beautiful, peaceful, and clean and the location was perfect for all of our planned hikes. We had an amazing weekend and will definitely be going back!

Beautiful spot. Keep your lights off when opening cars/tents - gnats are swarming. Can walk to Gifford House and onto the Fremont River trail from the site.
