What Guests Are Saying
Westwater Campground offers convenient access for river launches and features helpful staff, including Ranger Bob and Ranger Ben, who provide excellent service. The QR reservation/payment system is appreciated, though it may be slow in a remote area. However, some visitors noted issues with site selection, road conditions, and the unpleasant odors from outhouses, suggesting there is room for improvement.

This campground is convenient for putting on the river, but the outhouses are very stinky and waft into the sites.

Ranger Bob was very helpful and the Upper Cougar Bar Campsite was in great shape!

Love, love, love that you had, and I was able to use, the QR reservation/payment system. It worked, albeit slowly (as one would expect in a remote area). But it worked great. Ranger Ben was also awesome, informative and professional. Great time before launching onto Westwater Canyon.

We weren't able to make full use of our site due to some circumstances beyond our control, but it seemed like a good site for a night. It would have rated higher had we actually been able to check in. We tried with the ranger, who was really nice, but he couldn't help. We were FORCED to use a phone to scan the QR code, but it would NOT scan. Every time we tried, we got a popup saying it's an invalid code! THIS SYSTEM ISN'T READY FOR THIS!!!

Road was awful all the way out. Arrived and there is only one pitch that is actually next to the river.
Ours was in a carpark next to a train line.
The toilet was clean. We used it and left.
We did not stay.
Would not recommend.

Didn't feel safe, so camped elsewhere. Two men were screaming somewhere while it was dark outside. Campsite was not as described when I booked it.

Couldn't find the place. My map took me thru Colorado and onto some BLM Roads. I almost ran out of fuel looking for this place.

100% perfect, clean bathrooms, a recycling bin and trash bin on site as well as potable water. Beautiful spot

Had reserved site no.10 here but switched over to the first-come-first-served site (no. 3) on arrival day, which is right next to the river. Didn’t have to pay extra as told by the park ranger so I was super happy with my stay here!
