We had a great time at the Upper shelter. It was right next to the bathrooms which was nice. They were cleaned and stocked. The volleyball net was great (remember to bring your own volleyball though!). We got a lot of use out of that and the swings. There were plenty of grills you can use (bring your supplies). We however were disappointed we were unable to swim and it was not communicated with us beforehand.

It rained off and on but we stayed dry and had a great time! Pavilion had sufficient overhang and all sides with a great view. A porta-let was very close with flush toilets a few hundred feet away. Great spot!

The reservation was very easily made for our family reunion spot at North Hartland Dam. Our shelter was well maintained, the ranger was very nice and helpful and the price was very reasonable.

It is a great location. My only problem is having to take your trash with you. I don't mind when I am just visiting the beach for a few hours, but if I'm paying to reserve a spot for a party, trash removal should be included. Otherwise, it is a great location. We used the volleyball net and the horse shoe pits. It rained earlier in the day so the grills were full of water but we managed.
