A little more local info regarding nearby hiking, swim holes, or kayak put-in would be nice. Maybe there was some but it wasn’t not obvious.

Our experience was lovely, nice clean campground, bathrooms were well taken care of, people generally friendly. The only drawback was that there is no store on site-so no ice, had to go back into town for ice runs. Stores in town were out of ice, had to unexpectedly travel a bit longer to get ice each time. Other than that, it's a beautiful setting, river was cold and fun to swim in-we would go there again!

My sister and I normally camp at Winhall twice a year. Normally I would give Winhall five stars but this year I'm not sure what was going on but it was a disappointment. We lost power two afternoons in the row during the hottest time of the day (someone needs to look into fixing their power grid). There were numerous not-so-friendly dogs not on leashes and teenagers were running around screaming throughout the day and into the evening. On the plus side the campsites are roomy and private and kept very clean.

Winhall was beautiful. Every site is on or very near the river. Our site was grassy and very clean and neighbors were respectful and quiet friendly as were the staff. Would recommend highly.
