About Buffalo Park

Buffalo Park is a small day use and campground park, located on John H. Kerr Reservoir. The campground is open May 1 - September 30. The Day Use Park is open year-around. Kerr, also known as Buggs Island Lake, is a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. Kerr Reservoir was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties in two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

This park is a gem! The hosts are kind and helpful. The campsites here are well-cared for. The pit toilet is kept clean, the showers are thoughtfully designed and clean. We were close to the water and enjoyed watching the sunrise and sunset. Site 7 has nice shade and access to a grassy area which leads to the water. Great place for family camping!

This was our first time staying at this campground. We really liked it here. Kind of small so not filled with a lot of campers. We had site 18 which was a decent size.
We REALY like how the bathhouse is set up. There is 4 sperate rooms with showers in it. SO it is like you have your own personal bathroom. No one walking in or out while you there.

Excellent level spot for my camper van. Nice close access to the lake. A smaller campground that was nice, quiet and peaceful. Very nice large dump site with easy access.
