Fairly good campsites. Would give 5 stars if it were full hookup, but it isn't and didn't expect it to be. Fire pits were a small issue. Had family in site next to us. Their fire pit was an extremely high model that blocked ALL of the heat from the fire. Not good on a cool, damp, early April evening. Overall, we had a great time at Longwood site 57 where we celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary.

Since 1989 I've been going to Buggs Island for a spring fishing trip. We generally stay at North Bend but with the current upgrades and renovations there we stayed at Longwood this year. We had an excellent site that had room for a camper, boat and 2 trucks. The site was well laid out and convenient to the bathroom. The only negatives regarding the site were a lack of shade and the placement of the water spigot. It on a small rise placing it higher than the camp pad. Running any significant amount of water created runoff into the site. Poor planning. The only real issue came of night 2 of our stay. Some idiot decided it was his job to play music for the whole campground, blasting it so loud we couldn't hear our own conversations. Eventually the Clarksville police got involved but were of NO help, basically dressing down campers for wasting resources by calling 911. I will say the park staff and Park Ranger ( the next day) were very good in dealing with the situation and the idiots left the next day. This was the first time in all these years I've had issue with fellow campers and fully understand there is nothing else the park or its employees could have done better. And in spite of that incident it proved to be a wonderful trip and I would return to Longwood should circumstances make it necessary. However, I can't wait for North Bend to re-open.

Beautiful park. Friendly staff. Clean restrooms. Good size sites. The only downside is that they allow generators and an RV two sites down had their very loud one running all day, even after they left for the day! I would recommend to staff that they put a limit on generator use if campers are gonna leave for the day.

Longwood is one of our favorite campgrounds. We loved site #30. The site is beautiful overlooking the lake. The campground and bathhouse was clean. Can't wait to go back.

Would like to see electric and water added to more sites that currently donβt have it.

The fall foliage was beautiful, the sites were good, and the restrooms were clean and well maintained. The only negative was the two dumpsters near the main gate were full and we had to use the one by the beach. It would have been nice to have cell phone coverage but that is not the parks fault.

A beautiful and serene park! We visited in mid October when the trees were ablaze with fall colors and the squirrels were frantically collecting the many falling acorns. We had ideal hiking weather with sunny days and cool temperatures. We enjoyed perfect campfire nights without bugs and just the right amount of chill. The park itself seemed to mute the voices and sounds of the other campers, and left us thinking we were sharing the lake and woods with only the wildlife. Itβs simply perfect for a quiet getaway of conversation and contemplation before winter arrives.

Level & very long site. Private with beautiful Autumn foliage. Low water pressure though. Restroom & showers clean. Very friendly & helpful staff.
