About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

It was a great site. All the volunteers and rangers have excellent customer service. The people in the site before us did not leave and the rangers needed to go and tell them to leave. We waited a couple hours to get on the site but finally on and set up before storm hit. Thank you to everyone at north Bend to work with us.

After camping here every year for the last 43 years it wasn't our best year, it wasn't our worst year - but we will always be coming back. We had 53 of us = family, friends, new friends and relatives who are already saying they will be back next year. We worked many years as volunteers helping to make your camping time better. We have celebrated birthday's, anniversaries, engagements, and many memorable fun times. The storms this year were really too close for comfort, but we survived. There is some finagling going on which is making it difficult to get sites, which is very frustrating. But with 4 generations gathered together (some starting as young as 7 days) it is home away from home for summer vacation. There is plenty to do and places to see, including entertainment right within the campground. Don't hesitate to give North Bend Park a chance - enjoy it!

North Bend is a wonderful well kept campground. The lake is refreshing on a hot summers day, the shower houses restrooms are kept clean. The camping pads are for the most part spacious. The campground staff from those that welcome you in to the cleaning ladies are all nice. Our hot spot for cell service works really well so my wife can work when she needs to. North Bend is a great place to camp

Crazy old man, yelling at people at check-in. He wanted people in the back of the line to move up, while front people were sitting in chairs waiting on camp sites to open, we parked cars, walked to check-in, and walked back to be be-ratted by worker old-man yelling at people to pull forward and move cars, it's like he had no idea what was really going. We told him to calm down as we entered our cars and went to camp sites, passing front people still waiting on campsites to clear.
