About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

We stayed in D loop . The shower house is in need of remodeling. The showers are nasty both men and women’s . Other than that we had a great time . Nature never needs remodeled

Our camping area was on the close to the water with access to the beach. We stayed on the beach or in the water most of the day.

Nice level site that faces the woods. There is no lake access from this site. It is beside the bathroom/shower house and you will have some noise from everyone coming and going. There are four individual restrooms each with its own shower, sink, & toilet. For the amount of people on this end of the loop four restrooms are really not enough. It should have been built with at least six if not eight.
We stayed on a weekend when the campground was full with mostly large family groups. It was a little noisy but not horrible considering how many people were in the area. During the hot summer months this is a family destination campground (lake) instead a camping and smores campground.
