About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

This is my FAVORITE CAMPGROUND. We try to come 3-4 times a season. Actually, I'm headed back next week. LOVE the beach areas and overall campground layout and grounds are always maintained. Don't use the bathrooms, so I can't comment. However, last visit:
1) site firepit had not been emptied and cleaned before we arrived (we informed office upon our departure)
2) there was trash along the outside edge of the site on the water/electric hookup side that was there when we arrived
3) I have a lifetime pass, which is good and pay $34 a night, but $78 a night for a COE is RIDICULOUS!!!! Come on! Needs to go back down for the "service" that is provided.

I love this campground and have been multiple times, and have plans to return later in the year. Just fair warning, spot 146C has a short level spot at the top of a fairly steep incline. Great site but maybe better for tents or van.
