About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

The park was great. Bathrooms were clean, the view was great. This people who check you in request a weird amount of information. I guess I'm used to VA state parks when all they ask for if your name. There's also no camp host to buy wood from or even come around and check in. Overall it was nice but there was a couple things that could be improved.

Really good side to side pad level nice stay site 219. easy back-in, driveway was clearly marked and wide. sort of loud first few days, believe there was a younger age group several site #s down. very helpful registration staff also pleasant park rangers. clean and adequate restrooms and showers. liked ability to get dog into water adjacent to campsite, Me also.

North bend is a really great park and one of our favorites. They have great RV sites , the folks there are always very helpful and friendly, plenty of room to ride a bike or get your miles in. Only drawback is the distance to South Hill or Clarkesville if you need groceries or shopping. We highly recommend North Bend.

The campground and campsite is amazing. The only thing that I would note or critique is that A campsites are locked behind a coded gate that is closed after 10pm. I arrived at 11pm and received no call, email, or welcome packet with instructions on how to get in. I called and checked every detail of my reservation and nowhere was it stated that I wouldn’t be able to access my paid campsite after 10pm.
