About North Bend Park

North Bend Park is located on John H. Kerr Reservoir, a 50,000-acre lake that extends 39 miles up the wooded, cove-studded shoreline of the Roanoke River in Virginia and North Carolina. North Bend is the largest park on Kerr Lake and is located near Kerr Dam and the Corps Visitor Assistance Center. Kerr Reservoir, also known as Buggs Island Lake, was created with the construction of the John H. Kerr Dam in 1952. Its 800 miles of wooded shoreline stretch across six counties and two states and offer countless recreation opportunities for visitors.

We love this place. Beautiful views and spacious sites. Been coming here for 15 years and always enjoyed.
Tent campers: be prepared for incoming wind and rainstorms that come in fast. If your tent is good quality you’ll stay dry. Definately stake everything down and keep light weight items secured, and firewood in the car. I’ve learned this lesson the hard way.

Awesome park. However bath houses were super nasty. Also loud music played by other campers (Latino music) greatly interrupted the beauty of the place as well as loud late nite campers. There should be a quite time at least by 10 pm.

North Bend is well designed and has lots of beach access. Loop C has nice pathways to the bath house. The whole place is great for bicycling. Minor complaints are the paper towel holders in the bath houses are the worst and some campers play music that is way too loud. Other than that, we love it and can't wait to come back!
