Loft Mountain Campground is praised for its spacious layout, cleanliness, and beautiful views, making it a great spot for group camping and hiking. Campground staff are noted for being friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall experience. While some sites may not be level and the shower facilities require payment, the positives, including wildlife sightings and well-maintained restrooms, contribute to a memorable camping experience.

Stayed here with a 30 ft travel trailer. Water spigots throughout the F loop campground broken or no faucets for refilling any water containers. Black water rinse at dump station is old and pretty much useless. Big Meadows campground stay was much nicer.

Loved the campsite. Was very windy on the ridge though so be prepared you may not be able to have a fire.

Loved this campground! Although we were tent camping we appreciated the site setups that appear to be designed to accommodate both tent campers and RVs with a "pull through" style driveway in front of each site. While our particular site was flat and pretty free of roots or rocks, we did see that some sites had outcroppings that depending on the size of your tent might prove to be an impediment to siting a tent on the spot cleared for that purpose. We are now big fans of the "Bear Boxes" for food storage on every site and wish every campground in America offered them! We had seen reviews that deer often walk through the campground and very near sites and this is very true so anytime you leave your site be sure to have your camera with you (you will also see a lot of rabbits too!). Also appreciated that we were able to access the Appalachian Trail right from the campground and hike down to the start of the Doyle's Falls Trail -- a great day hike. Also highly recommend the fresh ice cream from the Wayside Camp store for the perfect topping for a campfire baked cobbler (or other dessert)! Also highly recommend the ranger-led Stony Man hike to learn in-depth about the flora along the trail and park history that you may not be aware of.

We've come to this campground over the years and find it very peaceful, calm, quiet, and friendly. The bathrooms are always pretty clean, in good working order, and the hosts and workers are always cheerful and helpful. The Frazier discovery trail at the entrance to the campground is a difficult, yet invigorating hike to a 360 degree overlook atop the mountain. The amphitheater is a great place to go during the day for a picnic or to stargaze at night. Even strolling around the campground is nice because it's well shaded and breezy.

This spot is so convenient to get to after the ranger station. Campground was clean, the location was relatively flat to pitch a tent, and the shade was excellent during our weekend stay. Will be back!

The grass was way too high. The site does not have a bear box and there was some scat nearby that was not from a deer or a dog.
The bathroom was mostly clean and well stocked. G Loop has a lot of very lovely sites and would probably look for a different site if we were to visit again.

The campground is extremely small. There is barely space for 1 4 person tent. Avoid this space if you have more than 1 tent, or an RV.

Our tent site, E144, at Loft Mountain Campground was perfect for a few nights away. There was a bathroom just a few sites down either way from the site with trash located at the end of the road. The site was flat with enough room for our large tent. The bear box provided was great to store our items but we did choose to keep our food in the car. We brought jugs of water since water wasn’t available at the site. The site was more secluded than others and had easy access to the car. Waking up to deer, rabbits and birds every morning was amazing and the stars and sunsets were beautiful. The showers are a walk or drive away and are $5 for a 10-minute shower. The showers are coin operated so bring quarters or dollars to change into coins. There’s a store onsite for essentials and wood. We spent our days on the go so didn’t check out much around the campground but enjoyed our mornings and evenings here.
This campground is the southernmost in the park. It was nice when accessing from the south but did require a lot of driving each day to reach other areas of the park.

Very clean and quiet campground, our site was slightly rocky but sleeping pad worked just fine and we had no issues finding the restrooms or dumpsters. We definitely plan to camp here again!
