We loved our stay at Loft Mountain Campground. As soon as we arrived, there was a doe and her yearling only a few yards off of our site. They returned several times during our stay. It's an hour south of Big Meadows Lodge on the drive. Though the campground was full, the amount of trees, vegetation, and elevation between the sites made it feel anything but crowded. The camp store is nice for supplies and showers, and just a bit down the road and for souvenirs is the Wayside. There were several old apple trees around the campground that were full of apples, and it was so neat to see the deer that munched on them all.

As big as the campground is, most of the sites have plenty of room. It wasn't very crowded during our stay, and it was quite peaceful.

All the conveniences one would need and very well kept. It's such a beautiful area and I would probably stay again if the opportunity came. Only down side is the sites are very snug and close together.

Behavior of some should be monitored during quiet hours. Some do not comply.

I had a wonderful experience while camping on Loft Mountain. One morning I woke up to three deer eating apples from a nearby tree. The Rangers are very helpful and are willing to answers your questions. I wanted to stay an extra night at my site. The Ranger spent 30 minutes researching to see if my site was available. Luckily, it was.
The campsite restrooms were always clean.
There are 4 showers located at the camp store, which is a short walk away.
You have to pay $2.50 for 5 minutes. At first, I thought $2.50 was a lot for a 5-minute shower, but 5 minutes is plenty of time. The showers were always clean.
I do recommend don't forget to pack everything you need. The camp store is well stocked but expensive. For example, a can of bug spray is around $12.00 for a can you can purchase elsewhere for $6.00.
They do sell ice which is around $3.00 for a 5-pound bag and firewood is around 8 dollars for a small bag. Don't plan on walking around the woods to gather firewood. Any dry wood has already been picked up. So don't forget to bring your firewood.
I do wish the campgrounds would stay open till December.
I would like to thank all the Rangers at Loft Mountain for doing a wonderful job

Love it! It’s a great campground, great location, clean facilities, really nice camp host. Unfortunately, we had some inconsiderate neighbors from DC in the next site, they eventually quieted down around 1AM. So, if you’re new to camping please understand if you’re up late having a good time joking and laughing that’s great, but everybody else in the campground is trying to sleep and wishing you would shut-up. Have fun quietly after 10PM. 🤫
