Loft Mountain Campground

Very well maintained campsite. Our space lacked some privacy, but it was a great size. This campsite is a great home base for exploring the park!

Amazing campground, clean bathrooms, enjoyed the ranger talks.

Great place! Son and I stayed for a night on the way to fish the upper Rapidan. Super friendly staff and great site.

Nice campground with a wide variety of sites. Clean bathroom facilities. Too bad no electricity or I would have stayed longer. Grass was pretty high on my site and loaded with small flying insects making sitting out difficult but that seemed like an isolated situation.

Great campground ! Very rustic and clean. The rangers were helpful and friendly. Only downside is the showers. They could use an upgrade and were not cleaned very well. I would still use this campground again.

Nice camp store and laundry on site. Showers were clean, but be aware they cost $5 for 10min.
Camp site was quiet and clean, pretty level.

Staff was very helpful and nice. Campsite were well kept. Bathrooms were a little rough.

Views were amazing! Plenty of hiking trails within walking distance of campsite. Quantity of visible stars in the sky was breathtaking.

Campsites were closer together than anticipated and not too private. With a travel trailer, half the spots are on the ‘wrong’ side. Toilet rooms were somewhere between clean and not clean.

All in all, 4 out of 5 stars and would come back again.

It was a very fun time. I recommend it.

If you don't have a reservation they have a very limited number of First Come First serve. Either you're by the parking space for the site and right next to 3 other sites with no trees or bushes in between or you have to walk down a hill with your items and the bathroom isn't very close. Doesn't matter if 1/2 the of the campground is empty, you can't pick any of those sites to stay even for one night, you must stay in the FCFS sites. There is very limited cell service by the amphitheater and one of the trash dumpsters if you want to try to book a last minute site on recreation.gov. Note though that the coverage comes and goes so you might not be able to complete the reservation. The sites are decent, some are more private than others. Showers by the store are $5 for 10 minutes. I prefer a shorter shower for less money. Not sure why they would prefer to send people away, because the FCFS sites are full or won't work for a person, when the campground isn't even close to full. Makes no sense.
