About Horseshoe Point

Horseshoe Point Campground is nestled on the shores of Philpott Lake in the rugged foothills of Virgina's Blue Ridge Mountains. The park is located in a rural and sparsely populated part of Franklin County near the small community of Henry. Philpott Lake's clear water and natural shoreline make it a unique place for visitors to enjoy boating, fishing, hiking, picnicking and camping. Horseshoe point is one of my favorite places to camp. The campsites along the lakeshore are terrific for kayakers/paddleboarders with plenty of nearby coves to explore.

Campground hosts are super helpful people! If you need something, just ask. We loved our tent site with its own view of the lake. You might have to carry water a distance from the well--we did, but our spot was worth it! We were able to kayak right up to the site. The water level is down currently, so that might not always be the case. Horseshoe Point is a quiet area and the local law officials came through 2-3 times while we were there, which is great!

  • The park gates will be closed from 10 PM until 6 AM.

  • Each campsite can accommodate two vehicles.

  • An additional fee of $7 per day will be charged for extra vehicles.

  • Firewood must be bought locally and burned on-site to prevent pests.
