About Sunrise Cabin
Visitors at Sunrise Cabin enjoy outstanding views from the front porch. Sunrise cabin provides visitors with unique opportunity to enjoy the natural features of the George Washington & Jefferson National Forests while still having many of the conveniences of home.We apologize for any inconvenience, the fireplace cannot be used at this time. There is not an alternative heat source for the cabin. The cabin was constructed in 1980 and offers many modern amenities such as electricity, kitchen appliances and showers. The property was acquired in an effort to help preserve the land around the beloved Virginia Highlands Horse Trail in southwest Virginia.

Cabin is nice but drive into cabin needs work. After raining the last two days that we were there the driveway was very wet and muddy.

The location of the cabin is great. Very quiet and scenic. The condition of the cabin is mostly good, but the bathrooms could use some maintenance. The floors are becoming rotten from water damage and the tubs are stained beyond cleaning.

Great place to disconnect from everything else and reconnect with nature. Rejuvenate and recharge. Remote, quiet, accommodates a group of family or friends spacious and comfortable.
The top floor can get hot, but the assumption is that you're out and about during the day anyway... :)

Really cool spot! On the east side of Mount Rogers National Recreation Area! Me and the boys had a blast!.
Cabin is great, but a little dated in the bathroom but we couldnt be happier with the stay!!!

From I-81, take exit 80 (Fort Chiswell) and go south on US 52 for about 1 mi. Turn right and drive south on VA 94 for about 12 mi to the intersection of the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. Turn right onto a gravel road marked with orange diamonds...
From I-81, take exit 80 (Fort Chiswell) and go south on US 52 for about 1 mi. Turn right and drive south on VA 94 for about 12 mi to the intersection of the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. Turn right onto a gravel road marked with orange diamonds (this is also the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail). This road is called Cha Cha Ridge Road. About 0.3 mi down Cha Cha Ridge Road, bear right onto the Virginia Highlands Horse Trail. A short distance later, turn left at the Sunrise Cabin sign.

The campground is accessible via I-81, taking exit 80 to US 52, and then VA 94.

- The fireplace is not operable. The wood stove in the basement is inoperable.
- Cell phone coverage is limited.
- No smoking allowed.
- Please bring food, flashlight, pillows, bedding, bath towels, firewood for outside firepit, charcoal and first aid kit
- Limit 8 people and 8 vehicles
- Please bring garbage bags; this is a 'pack it in-pack it out' facility
- No pets or horses allowed
- Facility does not meet accessibility standards
- When leaving, ensure all doors and windows are locked, and all lights and appliances are turned off
- Be prepared for emergencies. Note where the closest hospital is located and bring basic first aid supplies.

- This cabin is not professionally cleaned between each renter. Renters are asked to bring basic cleaning and paper products (broom, mop, dust pan provided) and leave the cabin in good order for the next renter.
- Don't Move Firewood: Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
