Nice campground with everything you need - fireplace, anti-bear storage, table, grass to put the tent on... and showers/ restrooms within a walking distance. Camp hosts were very nice and helpful, as well as all park employees we encountered during our stay. Lots of beautiful trails nearby - I would especially recommend the Rapidan Camp trail and the Rose River trail.

Although it's a big campground and I went on a weekend, I felt it was very private and didn't feel interrupted or disturbed by my neighbors. The open grass field in front of Big Meadows is super beautiful and very tranquil. I enjoyed my experience here. At the campground you can find a bundle of wood for sale for $10 and a 10 lb bag of ice for sale for $5. I wish I had known ahead of time that there is a gift shop and restaurant and wifi available in the Byrd visitor center and Big Meadows Lodge.
