Great campground! This was a busy campground with lots of others enjoying the National Park. I loved that I could hike directly to the AT and Dark Hollow Falls from our campground (among other excellent hikes).

Big Meadows is a really nice campground in need of a few upgrades. The roads are scheduled to be repaved this summer, which is most welcome and overdue. The bath houses should be rebuilt to include showers. The concessionaire that handles the camp stores and showers should be kicked out, or at the very least lose the shower concession. The showers take half a roll of quarters for 10 minutes. The signage isn't all that great at explaining that, either. RV owners will just shower in their campers, but those in tents and through-hikers on the AT should be able to find something better than what this concessionaire offers.
The dump station needs a threaded hose connection for black tank flushing. Most new RVs include a water inlet for that purpose, but the black flush system provided is way outdated. Separating the fresh water fill farther from the dump station would be useful as many towable RVs would want to fill on the way in, and not need to dump until leaving. The present layout causes congestion.

firewood was advertised online as being open 24/7 but when we got there we were told it closed at 6 and then to use anything on the ground which was soaking wet

We had a wonderful camping experience at this location. The campsite was clean, well-maintained, and very family-friendly. The surroundings were peaceful and scenic, making it a perfect place to relax and disconnect from the busy routine.
The facilities were convenient and in good condition, and everything was easy to access. We especially appreciated the spacious layout, which gave us enough privacy while still feeling safe and comfortable. It’s a great spot for families with kids, with plenty of open space for activities.

Campsites are well laid out and convenient. Bear boxes make it so that it has an extra sense of storage. Bathrooms are cleaned daily, and showers are very clean and convenient. Having a campstore for firewood and ice make it so that you don't have to leave the park for much. Always a pleasure camping here.

Totally booked. Beautiful spot. Too early for all restaurants, etc. to be open, but plenty of trails to hike.

Good campground. The staff was very helpful when we needed to extend our stay. Many good, challenging, hikes in the area.
