Absolutely beautiful location! Everything was laid out and easy to understand. We had plenty of space and were able to find our way around easily. This is going to be a new family favorite spot!

We stayed in site 52, which was a “walk to” site. It was not hard to get to and was perfectly tucked away and private HOWEVER it was connected to the AT and we had upwards of 20 ppl walk THRU our campsite while we were there - it felt intrusive and constant despite us asking folks not to walk thru the middle of the site and blocking the little path with a cairn and log.
Overall Big Meadows very nice, nice bathrooms and showers etc but I would not stay in site 52 again.

Nice, low key campground in Shenandoah National Park. We found it the perfect place to rest after a long day of hiking and sight seeing.

Had an RV site. Spot was slightly unlevel and had broken pavement by where the door was so it was a huge step up and down out of the RV. Otherwise, the site was decent and quiet. It would be great if other campers didn't walk through sites though. There are plenty of paths to go around.
The major complaint is the showers. When you pay $5 for a shower, the curtain should close all the way so your stuff doesn't get wet, there should be hooks on the walls to hang your belongings, but mostly importantly, hot water would be great. Even moderately hot. My shower was lukewarm at best. It was definitely invigorating.
When we were here, most of the visitor centers were closed, which there was no notice of. We did enjoy the drive and the hikes.
They do offer gas in the park, which isn't super expensive compared to the surrounding town. I'll happily pay an extra .30 a gallon for the convenience.

I had the best camping experience for the two days I was at Big Meadows Campground. The campsites are well marked and easy to find, there are clean, warm bathrooms placed in convenient spots throughout the campground.
There was an incident where a man helped himself to my firewood, but the Rangers took this seriously and he brought back my wood. The Rangers and others that worked there were friendly and helpful. I am a single female and I felt safe knowing there were good, competent people working at the campground.
Blackrock Summit was a delightful surprise, fairly close to my campsite. The views of Shenandoah Vally were so spectacular, I went up there twice.
100% a great experience camping there.
