This site is awesome. Great shade for tents and we fit an 8 person and 6 person with ease. Not completely level so we just made sure our heads were uphill. T-mobile had service - 5G about 70% of the time. Lots of wildlife passing through so make sure food is in car.... we even had bear poo!

Campsites are well spaced and campground is clean. Site G205 was wonderful, good shade, water supply located at the site, level and long pull through drive. Water fill and dump station is in an odd location, not visible from the main drive. Its past an old dump station that was decommissioned. Staff was friendly. Campground is near visitors center and store/gas station. very convenient.

We had a relaxing week stay at Big Meadows! In nearby local town of Luray we explored their 4 miles bike trail, and enjoyed local businesses in Elkton. Within the park we hiked 50+ miles on the Appalachian trail, hiked down to the Dark Hollow Falls, rode our bikes to the Wayside and enjoyed evenings at Big Meadows lodge. For sure bring your net sided tents for eating under on the buggy days. We loved all the views, nature at its best!

This is was our first experience at the Big Meadows Campground in the Shenandoah. I was astounded at the number of people camping! I give it a three-star only for its crowds - This is not for folks looking for a little more remoteness. We were there to do a section of the AT, which was easily accessible from the amphitheater. The facilities were clean and the campground (and children) promptly got quiet at 10 PM. The only thing I would caution about our campsite A91 is that the tent site is below the parking area, so after the torrential rains on Wednesday, our site was pretty damp - thankfully, our ground cover did its job. Water did drain away quickly. The store was well stocked and reasonably priced.

Overall a good 5 day camping trip (hike in camp site in big Meadows) with great views, hiking and stargazing. We were without power for 2 days (no lights, hot water in the bathroom, etc.) & the Sky meadows lodge was uncomfortably warm for our one dinner not at our campsite. We could see the effects of the budget cuts everywhere which is so very sad. We have been camping in the national parks for decades & our hope is that the funding is restored so future generations can experience these American treasures /beauty in the future!
Thank you for all you do to make our camping & outdoors experiences better!

Nice RV campground. No utilities- has a dump station. Sites are wooded with limited ability to use solar. AT trail is connected to campground as well as other trails. Showers are super expensive ($10), and in my opinion at least one a day should be included in the cost of your spot (similar to what Yellowstone does). There is a laundromat with a box to share items with people through hiking the AT. Nearby is a lodge- the porch is great for watching sunsets. You can eat in the restaurant or in the pub downstairs. Try the berry ice cream at the pub.
This location is convenient to a ranger station with gift shop. The gift shop has a range of camping supplies. There is back in RV parking at the Ranger Station. Rangers were super helpful at recommending trails.
