Bad campsite with no storage locker, and butts up to another site which smoked us out all day and covered us in their ashes. The site is relatively flat in the parking space, but the whole site is slanted on a large hill.

Our neighbors had 6 sites and decided to party right next to us... really poor experience as this is not a group campsite.

Great location for families! Lots of open space with the one of the largest wooded sites… amply trees for hammocks, and multiple tents .. we would use the site again!!! And again
Only downside , curious traffic, driveway we vehicle can block most of that… love big meadows

The fall colors were stunning. There were deer who visited the campground every day. Sign up for Rapidan Camp before you arrive.

Great national park campground though the sites are closely spaced. As is typical in National Parks, there are no hookups for water or electric.

Shower maintained by private company, so park staff cant help when you have an issue. Showers didnt have a cost labeled so you randomly have to keep feeding quarters until it starts. Ended up to be $5…which is crazy expensive.

Our campsite was level for setting up a tent, in a good location and a short distance from the restroom. The dishwashing station was in a different restroom building, which was fairly close, but less convenient to access. Facilities were well-maintained and cleaned regularly. The campground is near the visitors center, camp store, and lodge. Many ranger-led activities are available in the Big Meadows area. We especially enjoyed the Meadow Walk and the Rapidan Camp Tour.
