We stayed in our travel trailer while visiting Grayson Highlands and Hungry Mother State Parks and biking the Virginia Creeper Trail. Quiet and peaceful. Very clean restrooms. Note that there are no showers available. There are a couple lovely hiking trails that begin at the campground. We looked at some of the other campgrounds in the area while we were there and decided that next time we would return to this one.

No shower!!! Camping spots are okay. Most electric hookups are reserved. First come first serve policy, except reserved, but look at the dates on each spot. No cell service!!! No Wi-Fi. Property manager was cool. If you’re bicycling the TransAmerica east to west, from the camping spot, it’s a 5 mile steady climb. After that it’s smooth sailing down about 6 miles.
Look for available spot first.

We had a great experience while camping at Racoon National Campground. The hosts were very helpful in every aspect of the trip. We only wished there had been showers available.

We stayed in spot #9, which I selected because of it's proximity to the creek, this worked out great! The faint rush of water passed into someone else's dream as we were whisked off to sleep.
I prefer campsites with just a little bit more privacy, and the occasional sound of road noise were why I didn't rate this campground 5stars. Still recommend this place. Nice hiking trails as well to Dickey's Knob and beyond.
