About Oak Ridge Campground

Oak Ridge Campground is a 100-site, wooded campground located in Prince William Forest Park, 35 mi (34.8 mi) southwest of Washington, DC. The park's land was set aside during the Great Depression, and in 1935 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began restoring the previously over-farmed acreage, converting it to recreational lands for public use. The CCC built trails, dams and cabins, making the park a wonderful place for recreation and relaxation. Large group camping is not permitted at Oak Ridge Campground. Awesome overnight midweek trip to site C12. Overall very happy with the site but did find that it had a slight slope to the whole site. It meant setting up my tent closer to the road than I initially wanted too, but it was the flattest spot I could find. I think in the future I will try another site on the other side of. the loop, maybe be flatter ground.
One thing I did dislike was that the fire ring is located in the middle of the site which makes enjoying a fire a little difficult due to placement. I had to move the very heavy picnic table to make a line of sight to my tent area because of the placement due to the slope.
Love the campground. Very quite and I did have great cellular service with AT&T. Also found the restroom very well maintained. I will be back!

Campground was well maintained and nearly empty the 2nd week of June. The bathroom was clean and the campground hosts were pleasant.
Unfortunately, the site we stayed in C-11 flooded during a heavy rain. the camp road is graded wrong and a river came rushing down the road and across site C-8 and into our site c-11. We had over 2” of pooled water in most of our campsite. Fortunately it drained and we were able to pack up our muddy gear and head home

I was greeted warmly when I arrived - the site hosts and a park ranger were having a meeting at the entrance to the campground. I wasn't sure if I needed to check in with them, but they pointed me on to my site, handed me a map (I arrived after the park entrance station was no longer manned), and let me know they'd be around a little later to record license plates.

The site itself (C26) was very clean and he'd plenty of space for our two tents. We made great use of the fire pit and the table!

The site is connected to just two of the main hiking trails, so it's a longer way to some parts of the park, but as a tradeoff it was quiet and beautiful!

The shower was clean and in working order. The toilets are fine at the two stations without the showers - people should clean up better after themselves. The bathroom buildings all had an open water closet which was perfect for filling a water bucket for the campfire!
