About Oak Ridge Campground

Oak Ridge Campground is a 100-site, wooded campground located in Prince William Forest Park, 35 mi (34.8 mi) southwest of Washington, DC. The park's land was set aside during the Great Depression, and in 1935 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began restoring the previously over-farmed acreage, converting it to recreational lands for public use. The CCC built trails, dams and cabins, making the park a wonderful place for recreation and relaxation. Large group camping is not permitted at Oak Ridge Campground. The campsite was clean, with firewood left for me. The Rangers were wonderful, and I had great and courteous other campers nearby. The facilities were always clean and stocked. A beautiful, peaceful setting, for sure.

Really nice spot! A little close to the road than some of the other spots but we really enjoyed our time here. One thing to mention on the fire pit, the inner grate is bent/broken at a strange angle, which made it a challenge when building a fire to cook on.

Great campground! Some spots are right next to the loop, so it they can lack in privacy. There are a few that go back though.

Had a great weekend! The on site managers were present and available without being bothersome. I brought my dog camping for the first time and she was very comfortable. Plenty of trails and places to hike. Deep, beautiful woods with clean bathrooms and quiet neighbors not too far away. Love this campground!
