About Oak Ridge Campground

Oak Ridge Campground is a 100-site, wooded campground located in Prince William Forest Park, 35 miles (56 km) southwest of Washington, DC. The park's land was set aside during the Great Depression, and in 1935 the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) began restoring the previously over-farmed acreage, converting it to recreational lands for public use. The CCC built trails, dams and cabins, making the park a wonderful place for recreation and relaxation. Large group camping is not permitted at Oak Ridge Campground. Please read the need to know section for additional information.

Clean bathrooms were a short walk away, the tent site was well cleared and flat. The fire pit was excellent and everyone observed the quiet hours. We will spend many more nights out here

This is one of the better maintained campsites I’ve experienced. We noticed the hosts driving through to check campsites, which made us feel safe. The bathrooms were clean and the other campers were courteous. The visitor center ranger was helpful in providing clear instructions for the hiking trail.

Great place to camp. It took awhile to get to the campground from the park entrance but worth it. The site was clean, quiet, and sufficient size for our new SUV and car-tent. All employees we met were friendly and professional. The only downside to our night was enduring the unexpected rain closed up in our hot vehicle with a dog terrified of storms. We left with a list of what to do differently in the future and would definitely stay there again next time we are in the area.

First time camping out there, it was a great experience. The site comes with an awesome fire pit that converts into a grill, & lantern post.
