We stayed with our 2 young kids and had a great overall experience. The room was far more updated than the pics in the reservation sites, which was good thing. Keep in mind the place was built in 1912, but we had no issues.

The beds we had were memory foam, a first for us. The pond and grounds are beautiful. Keep in mind the road that gets you there quickly from Packwood, is closed 1/2 the year, thus made it an extra 2 hr drive from our location in eastern Wa.

The breakfast is pre packaged and you must order via their website. This is because the town is so small and especially in winter, so restaurants are seasonally closed. Consider bringing your own food.

We plan on making this a yearly or more stay for our family, we loved it and I love how remote it is in the winter! Finally, the customer service was above and beyond. The room was very clean, hot water was hot.

We absolutely loved our stay at Alexander’s Lodge. The building is older, but that’s exactly what gives it its charm. It has a warm, historic, mountain-lodge vibe that feels authentic and welcoming.

The location is unbeatable. It’s one of the closest stays you can get to the entrance of Mount Rainier National Park, which made early park access incredibly convenient.

The common areas were excellent. Cozy, spacious, and perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking. I even ended up giving an interview from the lodge because the atmosphere was so calm and inspiring. There is tiny hike around the lodge which makes it sooo peaceful and unique. Not to mention there is a pond too.

If you are looking for modern luxury, this may not be it. But if you want character, warmth, and proximity to the park, this place is special. We would happily stay again.

We stayed at Alexander’s Lodge in Ashford for Valentine’s Day, and it turned out to be one of the most meaningful stays of our lives.

About two weeks before our visit, I spoke on the phone with the manager, Jared. From the very first conversation, he was incredibly kind, patient, and genuinely helpful. I explained that my fiancé and I were hoping to elope during our stay with a few close family members, and without hesitation he was eager to help make it happen. His willingness to accommodate us made what could have been stressful feel easy and exciting.

The lodge itself is over 100 years old, and you can truly feel the history when you walk through the doors. It has that rare charm that newer places just can’t replicate. At the same time, our room was very clean, well kept, and comfortable. We both slept so peacefully — it felt cozy and welcoming, not dated. I genuinely appreciated staying somewhere with so much character and history.

Our wedding photos came out absolutely beautiful. The pond on the property was the perfect backdrop — serene, romantic, and naturally picturesque. It made our special day even more memorable.

Every person we encountered during our stay was kind and friendly. We especially enjoyed chatting with Chris in the gift shop — he was such a delight to talk with and went out of his way to be helpful.

If you’re looking for a place with history, warmth, and genuinely caring people, this is it. We didn’t just feel like guests — we felt welcomed. We’ll always associate Alexander’s Lodge with one of the happiest moments of our lives, and that alone makes it a place we would wholeheartedly recommend.

I cannot say enough Good things about this place. We showed up very late our room was ready easy check in, map keys everything we needed. Free upgrade. Location is amazing only 2 miles from the entrance to the mountain. Bed was comfy and our room had a bidet! We didnt get up early enough for breakfast unfortunately. I wish the breakfast time was a little longer but maybe next time. Thank you for a great stay and we will be back!

Perfect for a cosy stay near the national park entrance. Rooms are rustic and adds to the vibe. The pre-prepared breakfasts were a life saver each morning. We stayed in the glacier room which had a nice little porch where you could sit in the mornings with a coffee or in the evening with a beer and look at the stars. We met a lovely gentleman one evening working behind the reception desk who introduced us to his dog Scrappy. Such a friendly chap who let us feed the fish. We purchased some small souvenirs that seemed to be in the shop for some time but they were perfect, I hope more people take a look in there.

It's been almost two months since our stay and we dream of being back most days... Thank you all for the great experience.
