This was our 5th time at Hood Park and as usual, our trip was great. The park is clean, shady and peaceful. We loved swimming and floating in the river and watching the barges go by at night! Can’t wait to return!

The amount spiders was insane! No thank you! They fell from the trees, covered anything left out over night, and were everywhere. I’m not talking about a few spiders, I’m talking thousands of huge spiders.

I don’t like the fact that they lock the gate at night (10p-6a) and no way out. What if an emergency happened and you needed to get out??

The park is nice enough and our site was big enough for our 40' 5th wheel. However, most of the sites, especially those for tents are very sloped. Saw many tents way down the slope or sitting right on the edge of the slope. As many reviews had indicated, there were many, many spiders - and cobwebs everywhere! The beach was not really all that inviting looking. There is a lot of weeds/mildew gunk all thru that area. We did kayak out of the launching area - which you have to go out of the park and turn right to get to it. Really wasn't all that enamored with the area.

This facility has only one shortcoming and that is a lack of connectivity to cell coverage and the accompanying internet. Everything and everyone, on the staff are amazing!!

To many spiders!! Otherwise a very beautiful campground right on the river.
Met two sets of attendants ... younger couple was very nice and did what they could to ensure we enjoyed our camping experience. The older couple were not very pleasant at all. Right from the start they told us they were 'unpaid volunteers' and then proceeded to try to make us as miserable as they were. They even argued that some information that the Park Ranger, who stopped by our camp site, gave us was wrong?

The campground is great, beautiful trees, clean washrooms, grass all over. Lady in office (Kathy) was extremely helpful with our reservation. There is Firehouse Subs across the highway, that has great sandwiches and salads. Unfortunately, a park staff man, must have noticed our out of state plates and came out to our vehicle to denigrate our home state where he said he used to live. Very underwhelming welcome to the park.

Hood Park closes for the year on Labor Day. September and October would be great months for camping at Hood Park. I would like to see the campground remain open for camping until the end of October.

Had a great weekend! Easy checking in, camp hosts did a good job communicating expectations and otherwise left us alone. As there was a fire ban, we made sure to bring our propane fire pit to enjoy it. Bathrooms are cleaned daily, showers are free for registered campers, though we did not utilize them. The placement of the playground in the middle of the loop is awesome for kids and parents who are watching them. We did see spiders, and people closer to the river had even more problems with spiders. The highway noise does fade away, but understand the park is pretty close to the highway. I grew up camping at Hood Park so I enjoy the barge traffic and the associated noise at times.
Bottom line: Beautiful park, clean restrooms, more noise than parks farther away from highway, and there are spiders in the later part of the summer.

Location, facilities, staff were top notch BUT the infestation of large spiders was close to intolerable. I know we're in nature and their habitat, but these large black spiders were everywhere and very invasive to every aspect of outdoor activity. To the point I left my truck and trailer in the driveway and killed spiders and cleared webs for three days afterwards. On day three I found spiders in the shop - but no equipment, truck or trailer that was at Hood Park ever entered the shop. Day four I moved trailer and truck into the shop and bug bombed the entire space - so far that seems to have work but I'm still leery each time a walk through a web strand anywhere near the shop or house.
