About Charbonneau Park and Campground

Charbonneau Park in Eastern Washington was named one of America's Top 100 Family Campgrounds. It is located on Lake Sacajawea, formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River. The park was named for Toussaint Charbonneau, an interpreter for Lewis and Clark and husband of Sacajawea, the famous Shoshone interpreter on the Corps of Discovery. The park provides excellent recreational opportunities for boaters, campers, upland and waterfowl hunters and anglers.

What Guests Are Saying

Charbonneau Park and Campground is praised for its beautiful, well-maintained grounds, spacious sites, and friendly staff, making it a popular spot for relaxation and outdoor activities, particularly near the river. Many reviews highlight the park's cleanliness and peaceful atmosphere, with some recommending it for RV camping due to limited water hookups. While there are some concerns about understaffing and the need for restroom upgrades, overall, visitors express a strong desire to return and enjoy the park's scenic views and community feel.

We always like this park. It’s close to home and always pretty quiet. We did have some branches in the way of our slide and they need to trim some tree branches up a bit higher, otherwise great place to camp.

Grass needed mowing. I went to the restroom to take a shower at 8 am and the restroom was closed for cleaning. Seems like an odd time to close a restroom.

I’ve been to Charbonneau RV park many times, it was somewhat disappointing for my most recent trip. It seems as tho the grounds have been neglected. The grass was dry, long, and very weedy. A lot of the trees are about half dead. A good wind might send branches onto the roofs of rv’s. It was early in the season, just after opening, I’ll give it some time for improvement, but this first visit was rather surprising at how neglected it looked.

Visit was only two days but was relaxing. The only thing that rang out was the lack of lawn maintenance. The grass hadn’t been maintained, it being very tall & not kept up. Did notice that in other parts of park though that the maintenance guy was mowing, just not maintained @ our site & surrounding area!! Did not use showers or bathroom.
