Hood Park

Great spot for a quick overnight!

When we stopped to reserve a site they marked sites on map and suggested us drive through to see which one we wonted it really did help us decide then they we great helping us reserve spot by navigating us though the the on line reservation beautiful place to stay nice play ground for kids.

Wonderful and highly competent and friendly hosts. Great sites and bathrooms very clean. Organized and well run.

The park was beautiful and well kept up. The park volunteers were very nice and helpful. I was leery of Hood park because of the reviews but I found the restrooms and the park grounds better than other locations close by.

Liked the park and the staff. We just have picked a bad weekend though because the spiders were unbearable on our last night. As soon as we would knock them off our stuff they would come back almost immediately and even more of them. All and all a nice park with easy access to the water via boat launch but the spiders definitely chilled the mood on our final night

Excellent camp host, nice bathrooms, and showers, reasonable costs, close to a beautiful river.

Now the disadvantages: it seems that there is a wasp nest trying to grow in pretty much every single power pedestal. Be careful when you open it. The wasps will probably just sit there quietly if you open it carefully. We were even able to plug in successfully as five wasps nervously watched me plug-in. Also, there are parts of the park that have quite a few spiders. None that I believe are venomous, but they are annoying. And lastly, across the river less than a half mile away, there is some kind of chemical tank farm with industrial activity there. It’s fairly quiet, except if tug boats go down the river with barges. But it’s actually very interesting and relaxing to watch them go by as long as the sound doesn’t bother you. It isn’t extremely loud, but you can hear it.

We have found that we really love this park but much of that is because it’s only 20 minutes away from our home. But we talk to a number of people from Arizona that were there and they all stated that they come by this park every year.

The park is nice. Camp hosts are friendly and attentive. Parts of the park have lots of spiders, but I am hearing that may be because of the time of year we were there, middle of August, other than that we enjoyed our visit.

The sites are narrow, close together and only a few can accommodate large rv's. As in many other sites, maintenance people don't see the need to cut tree branches that clearly interfere and scratch any large RV. The electric power is 30A only and very weak at that. You are constantly reminded not to use too much amperage.
The view from the camp is typical American riverfront; corn or wheat silos, railroads or cement plants.
There is a dump station and very tight as well. Also, alcohol is also not allowed. Perhaps this is Washington state thing because we know how wild those 60 something retirees can be. :)
Finally, this was the campground that we saw the most tents anywhere.
To top that, there is not much to do in the area but there is Walmart, Costco withing 18 mile range. So, that's good.
