Hoh Rainforest Campground

This campground is an absolute gem for sure. I am so amazed how comfortable this campground is considering how secluded it is from society! Love the proximity to the beach, the access is very easy and accessible, and for the most part the campground is very clean. The ONLY problem I have with this campground is the lighting of the bathrooms.

The lighting inside and outside of the bathroom is unshielded and too 'blue'. For a few reasons, I think these light fixtures should be replaced with something better. For one, the bright lights in the bathrooms attract a ridiculous amount of moths and bugs from outside. Naturally light does this, but if you were to pick warmer color lights, and shield them from directly shining through the windows, that would really help the problem bigtime and make the bathrooms seem a lot cleaner and bug-free. Bugs are MUCH less attracted to lighting that's 2200K and warmer.

Same goes for the lighting on the outside, they aren't shielded, and the light bulbs shine directly into people's campsites, which doesn't seem very conducive to camping outdoors in nature.

Plus I'm not sure if you guys have looked into this, but you are lucky enough to boast some amazingly dark and starry skies on clear nights, which gets harder to find each year. You guys have a real chance to protect, preserve, and showcase this natural charm, even by becoming an official Dark-Sky Park through International Dark Sky Association. Great opportunity to promote astro-tourism and bring more families to your park for dark skies. However, to get that certification, you have to install dark-sky friendly lighting throughout the park, which means they must be shielded, only as intense as needed, and warm color, which is easier on glare to people's eyes and better for the environment. Site 65C has to be the best site there. River view, fairly private for a campground and close enough to the bathrooms. Site was large. Stayed for 2 nights and wish we could have stayed longer!

Within an hour of setting up camp, a beautiful bull elk wandered through our campsite. Beautiful!

We were a group of 6 with 2 sites 80C and 84C. We have. 30' travel trailer that fit nicely in 80C. Hoh Rainforest is gorgeous! We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the nearby hiking trails, the Hoh River and the visitor center was helpful.
