Hoh Rainforest Campground

We enjoyed our night here. The ground was nice and flat. A deer visited on the morning. The bathroom was clean. We could not figure out how to get water from the outdoor sink.

Wow, what a beautiful campground. The Hoh campground itself is beautiful with each campsite nestled between huge trees draped in moss. It's at the bend in the Hoh river which is just a quick walk away. Also in the area is the Hall of Mosses trail, less than a mile loop of moderate terrain, but not suitable for wheelchairs or walkers. The campsites are primitive, but our RV has enough water and battery power to make it through the night and even through the trees, our 400w panels gave us enough to keep the lights on and refrigerator cold. We had no need for AC or the microwave, so we never ran the generator.

There is no cell service, so enjoy detachment from the outside world and just connect with the incredible awe of this park.

I dinged it one star because there is no way to get into the campground without waiting at the ranger check in station with the non-overnight visitors. Thankfully this site and Google Maps warned us to arrive after 5pm or before 8am. When we arrived at 6:30pm, there was no wait. But the lot fills by 8am in the summer, even on weekdays, so the line to get in starts very early and you will wait until people leave on a one in, one out basis. We left at 8:30am and there was already a line to the "expect to wait 45 minutes" sign for folks lined up to come in. This included RVs which if they had reservations, there is no reason to wait. There should be a second line for campers with reservations as they have a parking spot and shouldn't have to wait for a visitor to exit.

So heed the advice: Arrive before 8am or after 5pm! Otherwise, you're waiting in line for a long time with NO CELL SERVICE!

It’s such a beautiful location and the weather was great. Everyone that worked there was so lovely but obviously understaffed. Save our national parks. They need to be staffed adequately.

My recent trip to the Hoh Rainforest and campground truly was a five star experience. My partner and I stayed in loop C, site 80 and folks let me tell you...this is the best camp site in all of the loops. Site 80 offers you the ability to camp a bit off the beaten path and offers you some privacy away from your neighbors. The campground was quiet and well kept. I would recommend brining your own toilet paper as the mens bathroom was without for more than a day.

Great campground, but took forever to wait in line to get back into the campground as it was on the way into the national park. The park really needs a second lane for campground guests so we don't have to wait with others trying to see the park. The park recommends coming into the park before 10am or after 5pm to avoid the wait times which helped some days, not all though.
