About Kalaloch

Kalaloch Campground is on the reservation system May 15, 2026 - September 20, 2026. Important changes to the reservation booking windows: To better serve visitors, Kalaloch Campground will be releasing campsites in a series of three staggered block releases by loop. These block releases will be 6 months in advance, two weeks in advance, and 4 days in advance. A and B loop campsites will be available for reservation 6 months in advance.C and D loop campsites will be available for reservations two weeks in advance.E and F loop campsites will be available for reservations 4 days in advance. Please be aware that A, D, and E Loops have experienced substantial erosion damage to the road and campsites along the ocean bluff. For this reason, there are a number of ocean bluff campsites permanently closed.During the rest of the year, the campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis. During winter (November - April), some campground loops are closed, but camping is still available. Kalaloch Campground is located on the southwest coast of the Olympic Peninsula in Olympic National Park, on a high bluff adjacent to the Pacific Ocean. Although campsites are not directly on the beach, several of them overlook the water and there is beach access within the facility. The campground is large and set amidst a peaceful, coastal forest that thrives on the region's high annual rainfall. Rain or shine, it is one of the most visited areas of the park.

What Guests Are Saying

Kalaloch Campground offers a stunning location close to the beach, with beautiful scenery and a pleasant atmosphere. Many reviewers praised the clean facilities and the helpful lodge staff, who provided exceptional assistance during their stay. However, some noted issues with noise from Highway 101, limited bathroom facilities, and difficulties in securing preferred campsites, suggesting that while the campground is beautiful, improvements in maintenance and accessibility are needed. Overall, visitors enjoyed their experience and expressed a desire to return.

Kalaloch is one of my favorite places in the world. The beach is so peaceful, the campground nestled in the rainforest is beautiful, and limited cell service is the cherry on top!

The only downsides were the traffic noise shaking our tent because it was so loud (esp. the logging trucks), and each bathroom we tried either had a broken sink or a broken toilet.

My recommendation is to choose a site on one of the B or C loops so you're farther back from the highway.

Amazing location! Basic clean sites and amazing views and beaches. Download your reservation or screen shot it so you know your site number because no internet unless you go to the Klaloch Lodge inside.

Foremost, our thanks to Park Ranger A. Redmond. At Ranger Redmond's morning inspections, she immediately recognized our site C-3 was not appropriate for our RV Class B, 20'. She instructed me to the campground's kiosk for site reassignment. However, Ranger Redmond also noted that guests were already lining up at the kiosk, so I should think about getting in line shortly because by time the kiosk closes, all sites will be reassigned for new walk-ins, assigned. Well, I did get in line and Park Ranger reassigned site A-27 after a cancellation. This was a 100% improvement. A-27 is flat, spacious, Class B and pull-trailer friendly, plenty of room for picnic canopy tent, recliner chairs, and side tables, all on the flatland and spaciously spaced. Our next 3 days, and 2 nights at A-27 were so very pleasant. AND, you can't beat watching grey whales breaching off-shore from the campsite! Again, a very special thanks to Park Ranger A. Redmond for making our visit so rewarding as first timers at Kalaloch. We are making plans to return next summer, '27, I suggest C-3 should be noted as "tent only" because the only level areas available are for tent placement. The RV pad is short, is sloped both front to back, and side-to-side. You definitely have to use levelers, which we did, but it's not really a comfortable site for Class B, and no room conformably for a truck/suv pulling a travel trailer. I would not recommend plans for a Class B or travel trailer. Although we made it work, it really isn't a campsite favoring anything but tents.

The campground was really nice, unfortunately the site I stayed at was not very good. The site A006 was honestly terrible, you basically group camping with the site neighboring site, there is maybe 5 ft max between the sites. The site itself is barely big enough for a bigger tent. It’s right next to the restrooms so the light from it won’t let you sleep. It’s close to the freeway so the noise also makes it difficult to relax. Because campsite is next to the exit I got woken up by people leaving and entering campground at various times. The site itself feels like forced to fit more people into already overcrowded campground. I only give 2 stars because of how cool and spacious other sites looked and location of the campground itself- kalaloch beach is definitely worth seeing. If you can avoid side A006 it’s not worth it I would honestly got more sleep at the truck stop.

Kalaloch has long been like my second love. Second Beach Campground is a spot where people are encouraged to hail one another and get friendly, while Kalaloch has a more private, hidden in the trees feel to it. Love them both.

Had a great time staying at Kalaloch! Highly recommend walking on the beach to the campground store to grab a coffee and continue on with a beach walk! Some sites are parallel parked on the street, so be mindful of what type of site you are getting.

I wasn’t particularly thrilled on this campground. Our site was nice, but the nearest bathroom was a walk, and the entire campground had no spigots or sinks. You had to wash dishes using the RV potable water fill-up hose… also not the campgrounds fault, but there is nothing to do in the immediate area besides the cloudy, foggy beach. We left our tent window open for less than an hour and all our stuff was immediately damp. Our fault for sure, but we just didn’t love it in general. I preferred other areas of Olympic much more like staircase campground.
