What Guests Are Saying

Thousand Trails Thunderbird has a beautiful setting and friendly staff, with positive experiences highlighted by guests who appreciated the warm welcome and amenities like swimming pools and playgrounds. However, concerns about cleanliness in restroom facilities, limited hours for amenities, and inconvenient campground design were frequently mentioned. Overall, while the park has potential, improvements in maintenance and service are necessary to enhance the guest experience.

Our experience at Thunderbird Thousand Trails was extremely disappointing. The restroom and shower facilities were in unacceptable condition — dirty, poorly maintained, and so unpleasant that it made us not even want to use them. I would genuinely prefer to shower in a nearby river than step into those facilities again.

Customer service was equally poor. Every interaction with staff felt unwelcoming and dismissive. It’s unfortunate when you’re paying to stay somewhere and the people representing the property seem irritated to assist you.

Another major concern is that most amenities are only available until 5 p.m., which makes it difficult to actually enjoy the campground if you arrive later in the day or have plans during regular hours.

To make matters worse, the campground design is incredibly inconvenient. There are two overflow or “camping” areas across a busy road that are essentially parking lots with no access to bathrooms, showers, or any amenities. Guests placed there have to walk across traffic just to reach basic facilities — something that feels both unsafe and unreasonable.

Overall, this campground needs serious improvement in cleanliness, customer service, and guest safety. I would not recommend Thunderbird Thousand Trails to anyone until significant changes are made.

The staff is amazing, but more money should be put back into this campground for upkeep of sites, grounds, and mini golf. Looks like an old forgotten fun time, in its day! Though we were there in off season, too many full-timers/year-rounders staying here. Clean bathrooms, though. Not much to do in off season.

A lovely place for a night out! We planned a last-minute overnight trip and Sonya in the office took such good care of us and made us feel so welcome. We were late checking in and she called to see when we would arrive and was there to greet us. We got in just in time to catch a beautiful sunset on the river and spent the rest of the evening around the campfire. I only wish the hot tub stayed open into the fall and winter!

Everything was great. Great neighbors and rangers. Incredibly beautiful, especially when the fog sets in. Gated area. There are swimming pools and playgrounds. Several dryers in the laundry room didn't work, but that's not a problem. Thank you, we'll be back again.

Nice park and friendly staff. Good spacing between most of the sites. Infrastructure is very solid with thirty and fifty amp power.
Distant location nestled among multi million dollar homes. If you'd like to walk to interesting places this may not be the spot for you.
Very little to do here off season. What they do have is open limited hours. Peak.
Summer season it's probably good as there are a lot of activities. Pool hot tub and outdoor game areas look nice. Once again, these things are not open in the non summer season.
