What Guests Are Saying

Cottonwood Campground offers a peaceful and clean setting with good access to the Naches River, particularly at certain sites like number 16. The campground is well-maintained, featuring pit toilets and potable water, and the camp hosts are praised for their helpfulness. However, some sites lack shade and river access, and road noise can be a concern; overall, it is a decent stop for campers on a long journey.

This site wasn’t huge, but fit our 2 tents just well enough.
Even though it looks like it’s on the water, there is no access to the river. You have to go through other sites.
Very limited shade for most of the day! So be careful when it’s hot and plan ahead.

This part of the campground had all the RVs, and the generators were on all night long due to the heat. This isn’t the site’s fault, but just be warned that could be the case for any of the sites in the loop

The camp hosts were great!
No cell service.
Great place to see the stars. Just wish there was water access for every site.

We had a great campsite right against the river. Camp hosts were lovely and informative. Outhouses were clean and surprisingly and unsmelly.

Campsite was quiet and well prepared prior to arrival. It was obviously checked carefully for cleanliness and the area around the camp table was actually raked! The pit toilet was especially well cleaned! Peggy was warm and inviting. They take obvious pride in their work! Couldn't have been nicer!

Similar experience to another user. Reserved site 3, no map, no markers for where site 3 is, apparently no camp
host. Every site was full, we asked people what site they had and they didn’t know, didn’t have a reservation. It was late and we ended up camping on the side of the road.

Campground is small, but many of the sites are large and right on the river. We had site 15, which is very large and a lot of trees and shrubbery so we didn’t notice our neighbors. There was a path to the river as this site is set off the river a little bit. We were able to easily have 3 tents, and could have had a couple more. The rest of our group had site 14, which was very small and had no shade so we all pretty much just used my site during the day. In the future, it would be ideal for a large group to get sites 15 and 16. The campground was very clean, and we’ll definitely be back.

First time camping in Washington, had such a great experience here and town was only 20 min away with 3 min away showers and mini stores nearby. Dog friendly and staff was so helpful and friendly!! Bathrooms were clean too!!! Will def come again! The river was few feet away from camp! So nice! And fun!

The campground is quite small, so there isn’t much to do onsite except go in the river if you have a river site (no trails from the campground, etc). Plenty of stores to buy firewood, ice, etc. in the area. The most popular trail in the area, Boulder Cave Trail, has changed to being reservation only (and I don’t think reservations are available same day online). Gold Creek Station, 5 min north, is a delightful restaurant and they do have wifi (stronger on the saloon side?). No cell service at the campground or anywhere in the area for Verizon or T-Mobile.

Great little campground. The host and maintenance person are very friendly and helpful.
Sites are small but very well maintained.
Wouldn’t recommend anything longer than a 20ft trailer.

Campground was very pretty and has a lot of potential. Our hosts were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately we left early for several reasons.

The sites and campground were well maintained, except for the trees. Our campsite was surrounded by trees with many dead branches, which was a safety concern even without the high winds during our stay.

The other issue to be mindful of if you are tent camping is the bright lights that shine into the campsites from 12 and up. Our hosts said it's from a government owned facility adjacent to the campground but the lights are bright enough to illuminate the shoreline opposite the campground.

Our main reason for leaving early was the disruptive group of children allowed to stay alone at the campsite opposite ours. They started yelling and running through the campground and our site at 6am, hit our car at one point, and had no supervision from their parents who stayed in a completely different area at the campground. They were progressively worse throughout the day and would not stay our of our space even though there were multiple empty creekside sites they could have used for water access. We understand you don't get much privacy in campgrounds like this but we do expect that quiet hours will be observed and people will stay out of occupied sites.
