What Guests Are Saying

Cottonwood Campground offers a peaceful and clean setting with good access to the Naches River, particularly at certain sites like number 16. The campground is well-maintained, featuring pit toilets and potable water, and the camp hosts are praised for their helpfulness. However, some sites lack shade and river access, and road noise can be a concern; overall, it is a decent stop for campers on a long journey.

The site(#15) very spacious, and was clean when we got there. The kids loved the private trail to the Naches River, there was a great place to play in the water. Beautiful site to stay at with a good amount of privacy. The host was wonderful and such a sweet lady. Absolutely will stay there again!

I reserved and paid for campsite #3. Upon arrival, all sites were taken and filled, no map, no number 3, and people everywhere. I asked a couple what their number was and they said they didn’t have one. Also, you didn’t need reservations to camp there. I think they were in my spot, but what are you gonna do? We left and found a better, FREE site to camp. I want a full refund. Worst reservation experience ever. Don’t camp here, especially if you are coming from out of state.

We loved Cottonwood! Sites were spacious and secluded, and vault toilets were clean and barely smelled. Amazing! We were there in early August. It is a fairly long drive (an hour) to Rainier hikes at Sunrise and White River, but the relative quiet of the forest was worth it. We'd hike first thing in the morning, then return to camp to swim in the river in the hot afternoons. We were lucky campfires were still allowed--apparently they forbid fires at the height of fire season in late summer. Pam was an excellent camp host, and we hope to be back in future summers!

The campground was well maintained and had a wonderful host. This site shows only 4 sites available for a trailer or RV of any length and one of them is site 5 (which is the site the host is using). We were in site 3 - the campground map shows it on the water side of the loop - but it is actually on the road side of the loop. It also states that it is a back-in site, but it is the only pull through site in the campground and BY FAR the most accommodating site if you have a trailer - it is also the biggest and most private site. You could definitely hear the road noise, but we didn't find it too bad. To get to the river you do have to basically walk through site #2 - that is the access trail for any of the 3 sites in the small loop to the east. Once you reach the river, it's basically for dipping your toes in - too shallow and running too fast to do much. Also - this website shows checkin at 4 and checkout at 2 - but when you get there it shows checkin at 2 and checkout at 12. We had both Sprint and AT&T with no service on both.

Smaller campground right off of SR-410. With the river, most of the highway noise is muted, which is nice. Campground was well-maintained and we had decent privacy. Our campsite was #8 - it’s a smaller site, so if you have more than 1 tent, it’s a bit of a squeeze. The camp host was extremely pleasant and welcoming. A great getaway on the eastern slope of the Cascades!

We had a wonderful camping experience at Cottonwood Campground. Our campsite was clean, large enough for both of our tents and all of our equipment, and felt secluded enough from our neighbors that it was easy to forget there were others around. The campground host was not only very helpful when we were looking for nearby hikes to seek out, but she was also very friendly and we enjoyed the conversations we had with her (at a safe social distance, of course). The vault toilets, while not the most pleasant experience, were kept very clean and were free of flies and other critters that typically make these types of places unpleasant. Being near the Naches River was awesome; however, I wish that there was a common spot to get into the water from the campground as the only way we were able to dip our toes in was to go through a campsite that had been vacated and was empty for another day. It would have been nice if there were a place for everyone to access the water without having to go through a campsite. Other than that, this campground was very clean and well kept, in a beautiful location, easily accessible, and had a wonderful camp host who made all feel welcome. I would highly recommend this campground, and my family is already ready to go back again this summer.

We stayed here for the NW Jeepcast Trophy Challenge and it was a great location just down the road from Gold Creek Station. Camp sites were clean and we had plenty of space for all our rigs/gear.
