About Fishhook Park

Fishhook Park is located on the shores on Lake Sacajawea in Eastern Washington. The lake is formed by Ice Harbor Lock and Dam on the Lower Snake River. The park was named for Fishhook Rapids, which were once nearby, where Lewis and Clark spent time in October 1805. Today Fishhook is a fishing destination, as the name implies, attracting boaters and anglers alike to its black rock canyons. Visitors also enjoy camping, upland hunting, hiking, swimming and water sports.

Fishhook Park is praised for its beautiful location, clean facilities, and friendly staff, making it a great getaway for families and campers. A big group of us have been coming to this campground for about 5 years. We have always had a great experience. The biggest draw back are the biting flies. They mainly bite around the ankles and oh my do the itch. The last 2 years my ankles have swollen up and it has lasted days after getting home.

It is sad to see the trees and lawns that have been so cool and inviting being replaced by dust and weeds as the park dies due to lack of adequate watering in the heat of summer. I hope the park will consider budgeting for enough support to ensure consistent watering again before it is too late and the shade continues to shrink and disappear.
