What Guests Are Saying
Takhlakh Lake Campground offers stunning scenery, with beautiful views of Mount Adams and a serene lake, making it a lovely spot for camping and hiking. The campground is well-maintained, with clean facilities and friendly hosts. However, visitors should be cautious of wildlife, like rodents, and prepare for a rough drive in, as well as the requirement to pack out trash and bring their own water.

The scenery and location is absolutely beautiful! The forest road to get there is awful, take it slow! Fishing was wonderful, we all
easily caught our limit! We will be going back next year!

First time here and really enjoyed it, stayed in #27. Only one mosquito bite all weekend and didn't even use any repellent, but also was not camping near the water. Nice campground, lots of families and kids. Unfortunately two younger couples arrived on Saturday in #26 and they were really loud and kept us up until 2:00 am until I finally crawled out of the tent and said something. VERY crowded in the day use area!! Otherwise, loved it and we will be back.

The only reason why I'm giving this a four-star review is because in the evenings the mosquitoes were pretty thick. Overall this campground was pretty quiet for the most part. Even on a busy weekend it was still laid back. The lake offers you the opportunity to launch your kayak or raft but no gas powered motors. This place also has vault toilets and garbage. The camp host was very polite and also had firewood for sale. Takhlakh Lake has a trail that goes around the entire lake that you can do in about a half hour's time. There's also a separate trail hikers can go on that leads up to a giant pile of lava rocks that you can see the forest and mountains from miles around. Another little nit pick, the road going up to Tahklakh Lake on the Oregon side. The road for the last 7-10 mi has a bunch of pot holes you can easily bottom out in if you drive too fast through there. Definitely not a road for cars that are close to the ground. Other than that and the bugs, I'd recommend Tahklakh Lake for a good 2-3 night stay.

Very nice campground with amazing views of Mt. Adams. The campground is also closed to some other hikes (but the road past the campground is pretty bad) which was convenient.

Beautiful location with Mt. Adams towering over the lake. Huckleberry bushes everywhere with berries just starting to come in. Campground was full and busy, but relatively quiet at night. Lake attracts many from surrounding area and becomes quite crowded on nice days. Many nice hiking trails nearby. Last 12 mi of road from Randle a bit rough, so be patient. Last bit from Trout Lake may not be much better. Remember NO POTABLE water at campsite or nearby.
