Walupt Lake Campground offers a beautiful and serene setting with clean, well-maintained facilities and friendly hosts. Campers appreciate the quiet atmosphere, ample shade, and gorgeous lake for activities like swimming and hiking. Some minor drawbacks include a lack of potable water and occasional insect issues, but overall, visitors find it a lovely place for a peaceful getaway.

This is a very beautiful area but know that there is 20 mi of hideous forest road. It takes about an hour to get to the campsite. Individual sites are fairly large. We were backed up to the wilderness with no site on one side so we only saw the people across the road from time to time. All sites are shaded, so if you are relying on solar power..... you're not going to get it. The insects are something to work with, having a fire going at all times for the smoke and lots of bug spray. The only water available was by the host, all others did not work.

Overall we had an enjoyable time. We came prepared for the water outage that occurred prior to our stay so did not have any issues there. The kids had a great time wading and playing in the lake. The water is so clear and clean!
Several of us hiked to Nannie Peak and then completed the Walupt Lake Loop, taking the Nannie Ridge Trail to the Pacific Crest Trail and then south to the Walupt Lake Trail. It was a beautiful hike, the skies were clear, and the mountains were out in full view! It was well worth the 9-hour, 15 mi hike!
The mosquitoes were ferocious though, so come prepared with lots of bug spray!

Worst trip experience here. They closed one of the bathrooms because the "pit tanks" were full, instead of having them cleaned out like every other year I've camped there. The water was not working and instead of providing water they just said bring your own or go to the horse camp and pump it yourself. The email notice that the water was not working came 2 days after I left for my trip but the water was not working upon arrival.
The camp hosts were not helpful at all, no customer service at all.
