Salmon La Sac

The sites next to the river are the best. I went in mid july and the water levels were very low and not super freezing (still chilly but the days were hot so it was refreshing). Zero cell reception but you can drive 15 minutes to the town, Ronald and connect if you need to. The bathrooms were clean just avoid the morning rush. By mid-afternoon, they smell fine. No running water or sinks. The sites were very large and the one I was at #44 had a very long parking spot where I parked my car and teardrop trailer. I put up a large tent and probably could have put a second tent up.

This is a wonderful, quiet, old growth pine forest. There are no utilities except well maintained, concrete pit toilets and hand pump water spigots at several locations. The roads can easily accommodate large RVs and parking pads in each site are paved. Tent sites are very large with some having complete scrub brush separation. Tent pads are a mix of dirt and pine needles. The sites next to the river are closer together but still ample in size to not feel crowded. There were 3x4 foot concrete pads being installed in all the sites. My guess is they're for future food lockers as there are bear in the area. The river in June was wading depth with smooth rounded river he rocks.

Campsite needs maintenance. Cleaning out full fire ring. A lot of extra rocks and a lot of exposed roots. Also only 2 places to get water in the entire campground.

Site 20 is a reserved (not held back as a first come site) that is a pull through. The pull thru curve is not overly sharp and rather long, so it should work for a big rig. If you are a towed setup and bend in the middle, you should have no issue with length. There is a large tree right on the left side of the pavement which could interfere with a slide, depending on how long the rig is and where it gets parked on the asphalt. The entry to the pull-thru is level, but slopes upward pretty distinctly as you move toward the exit. This will cause you some issues where the front of your rig will require minimal leveling, but the rear will require all the blocks you can find. The camp site area is down 4 or 5 steps in a "hole". It is a very private camp site. The last step down to the site is doozy because of all the foot traffic creating a divot at the landing making the last step very high. The fire ring is more of a fire wedge, a quarter circle, and not very deep, there is little protection around the fire that would allow you to make a large fire, small fires only. The picnic table is a disaster. Seats are not level, the top of the table isn't anywhere close to level, probably off by 15 or 20 degrees. I don't expect perfection, but a 15 degree lean on the table, and other angles on the seating surfaces make for uncomfortable use. The table is large wood beams on precast concrete base, this is something that can be fixed by removing the components and reinstalling everything on level-ish ground. My advice to the Forest Service would be to fix the landing at the bottom of the stairs when they reinstall the picnic table. We also noticed concrete pads being installed in every camp site. We couldn't figure it out initially, but we believe they will be for bear lockers, but there are no bear lockers currently in any of the sites.

A wonderful campground with a variety of campsite types. There’s something for everyone from more private tent sites to big open sites for RVs and trailers. The nearby rivers offer a playground for swimming and/or just relaxing.

First of all I just want to say that the campground hosts Leo and Lori were the best ever I have seen up there for years. The campground was extremely clean the bathrooms were spotless.
They were very easy to deal with and so accommodating and helpful.

Another wonderful weekend at Salmon La Sac! Campgrounds are spacious and love the swimming hole right at the entrance of the campground for our kids. Toilets were spotless and the campground host was thoughtful to alert us of a bear siting and to remind us to put away our food stuff. Can’t wait to return!

Salmon la Sac if a beautiful wooded campground with streams on both sides. It has spacious campsites that are spread out enough you see your neighbors but are not on top of them. Nice place to ride bikes and walk.

Salmon la Sac Campground is in a great location for hikes, many sites are along a stream and it's convenient having water spigots. I have been coming to this campground for many years. The one disturbance this time was staff using leaf blowers for long periods of time in the mornings to clear the road and campsites while we were trying to enjoy breakfasts. It was loud and long and spoiled the ambiance of peace and quiet in the woods. Otherwise a great experience.

Wonderful campground! So fun and spacious at the sites. Only thing I would recommend is having the camp host sell wood so you don't have to haul your own or go into town to buy.
