Louella Cabin

What a gem!! This cabin was clean, super cozy and warm, and very spacious.
It's a bit of a drag not having running water, but you know what? If you did not bring enough in, you are minutes away from a grocery to get more! The out door potty was clean (had just been serviced), and not gross at all. We were also delighted to discover a binder full of maps and locations of near hikes...we really needed that. Also, there was a closet full of puzzles, games and the best grandma romance novels you could hope for (Harlequin of course!). No cell service at all. Fine for us, but if you need to work remotely, not a good option. Disconnect when you come here!!

We had a great time at the Louella during summer 2020. This is a very rustic but charming cabin; no running water or bathroom so be prepared for that. The outhouse was very clean. No cell service either, which was actually really nice. We loved the gas fireplace at night and having a kitchen to cook in. Used the fire pit outside most nights too. Great spot for taking day trips, as there are endless destinations within an hour or 2 of the cabin.

Lovely place to stay.

Make sure you print your reservation as it has the code to open the lock on the back door. My only concern is anyone that has ever stayed at the cabin has the same code. You can use the deadbolt once inside but if gone the place is pretty much accessible. The lock numbers are roman numerals and hard to read so have a flashlight ready.

Cabin was toasty warm with the propane fireplace. Plenty of dishes and kitchenware. Stove and refrig worked great. Firepit is directly next to the porta pottie so not the best location. We enjoyed our stay and reading the entries in the cabin log book. Very creative!

Road to cabin (once off Palo Alto) is gravel but other homes are along the road so I don't think snow would be too much of a problem. One incident to report was car next to us at Upper Gray Wolf Trail had window broken out so make sure to leave nothing in sight or of value in the car. I am glad we emptied car at cabin prior to going to trail.

We loved this cabin. The only downside is that the beds are very uncomfortable. Bring camping mats.
It was a peaceful two nights. We will definitely be coming back.

We enjoyed our stay, highly recommend bring compostable paper plates, foil, and your own utensils and such. It’s a dry cabin, so the dishes and kitchen pots/pans are only as clean as the last person who washed them. We loved having no cell service and completely chilling out in the evening. The Dungeness Spit is an excellent outing, and so many trails and forest service roads to explore. We will be back!

I loved the remote location and the photographic relics of the history in the cabin. It was a lovely place to stay.

Just what we'd hoped for, great!!

We had a fun and interesting stay at Louella Cabin, grandparents with daughter and 12 year old grandson. I will say it could have been cleaner and more attention paid to details. The kitchen was stocked with dishes, silverware, and pots/pans, but very minimal. We were glad we bought what we needed to fix our meals. We just happened to have a 5 gallon bucket with us, which we left, as it made tossing the sink water so much easier. The most unique event occurred when we spotted a weasel dragging a dead rabbit, at least 3 times it's size and weight, across the road and under the porch. The next day it carried a big rodent and the 3rd day a mouse. Must have been some hungry babies! At night we heard squeaking and rustling, but no sign of critters in the house. At home we identified the animal as a Long-tailed Weasel with a black tip on tail. Besides the board games, the weasel was a big hit. During the day we went on hikes, Lower Dungeness and Grey Wolf, and a long bike ride up FS#28. A fire each night was enjoyed by all, cooking 2 meals on it. Picnic table and firepit were great. And the PortaPotty was nice and clean. All in all, we enjoyed our time at historic Louella Cabin!
