We very much enjoyed our stay here. The sites were spacious and well spaced. On the West Virginia side of Shenandoah, it is about an hour drive away from the North entrance to the park near Front Royal and 90 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance near the center of the park. Those drives are not insignificant but this gets you away from the crowds and traffic in the park and provides a comfortable peaceful place to stay. There are a couple of pleasant short hikes (<5 miles) here as well. Bathrooms are clean with warm (not hot) showers. In October the bathrooms were definitely not toasty! No cell phone service from Sprint, TMobile or Verizon.

The road to this campground is mostly a single lane road so go slow and hope to vehicle you meet slows down to! Campground is tucked into a beautiful niche in the forest. Very limited number of electric/ water campsites. Most have no services. The campsites are comfortable sizes.
We stayed in campsite 11. It was close to one of the bathhouses. The site itself was very level BUT there is a 3” drop off from the road to the parking pad. So be prepared!
There is no internet service.
The bathhouse was cleaned daily and was well maintained. The shower is unusual as you cannot adjust the water temperature or flow. You just push the button (every 30 seconds) and there is water. The temperature was just right - not too hot, not too cool.
The only downside to this campground was the host’ barking dog. And it did bark - all day long. We could not even sit outside for that barking dog. Even when we hiked up the trail to the ledge, we heard that dog for the first half mile.
