Lake Sherwood is praised as a beautiful, serene location perfect for families, offering clean facilities, hot showers, and friendly staff. Guests enjoy various activities such as kayaking, swimming, hiking, and making memories. While some facilities need improvement, particularly in cleanliness and water availability, many campers cherish their experiences and long-standing connections to the area.

Camp site #70 was in great shape. We enjoyed camping. Bathroom facilities were clean & well maintained.
There were some negative issues that need addressed. The “dump” station was closed for repairs. Nobody on staff could offer alternative sites. Fortunately, another camper recommended facilities at the WV State Fair grounds. Secondly, the lake had been drained during the winter. No stocking plans were known to staff at the lake. Lastly, beavers had dammed up a small steam across the lake. It flooded the Lake trail & required hiking up a ridge to cross the stream to resume walking the trail. The beavers need to trapped out & relocated.

An amazing location! A spot that's out of the way if that's what you're looking for but the lake is nice, quiet, private, and against a gorgeous backdrop if that's what you're looking for. The bathrooms were very clean, easy to use, and had HOT water. Not too much potable water in the fountains when we were there but manageable with small water pressure coming out of them. The camp managers and staff were all incredibly kind! I would definitely return if I'm out that way again.

Very good. Even in the camp ground we had a secluded feel. Lots of bass and giant blue gills. Made for a very fun senior week.

Lake Sherwood has been one of my favorite places for more than 50 years, and it continues to be a wonderful destination for camping and making memories. The campground is beautiful, and the lake provides a peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
One of the best parts of every trip is spending time around the campfire with friends and family.
The sandy beach is a great place to spend the day. The lake water can be quite cold, although the kids never seem to notice and have a great time swimming and playing.
The boat dock store is very convenient and stocked with necessities as well as fun merchandise, making it easy to pick up anything you may have forgotten or find a special souvenir.
A welcome improvement this year is the availability of Wi-Fi at the gatehouse, which adds a nice convenience while still allowing campers to enjoy the beauty of nature.
There are also many opportunities to view wildlife, which makes every visit feel unique and special.
After more than five decades of visiting Lake Sherwood, it remains one of my favorite places to camp. It is a beautiful, relaxing destination that continues to create lasting memories year after year.
