About Boot Lake Campground

Boot Lake Campground overlooks its namesake -- 263-acre Boot Lake. Bask in the sun on the beautiful beach and then take a relaxing dip in the lake, or enjoy the fishing. Boot Lake contains walleye, northern pike, bass, musky, and panfish. In addition, several nearby streams offer excellent trout fishing, and the Wolf River provides fishing, kayaking, rafting, and first-class canoeing opportunities. The Jones Spring Non-Motorized Area is nearby, and offers hiking, hunting, and cross-country skiing. Generally, use at this popular campground is heavy throughout the summer.

This was our first visit to Boot Lake. The site we had was okay, we chose it because of the of the pit toilets. There is only one set of pit toilets for the loop we were on and the other sites we would have chosen were too far away.

One of our favorite locations. Close to town to quickly get what you need, but far enough to feel you’re out in nature. The sites are not on top of each other and the lake is not overpopulated. I do wish there were more electric sites, flush toilets and better cell service. Boulder lake is not too far away and has all three. Overall, I do recommend Boot Lake Campground if you're looking for a quiet getaway that’s still close to restaurants, groceries, etc.

I was very disappointed in the information and picture given for reserving sites. I reserved what I thought would be a good site for us and our small camper and it was a terrible site. We ended up taking a different one and my sister used the one I reserved. We had a group of about 40 with us and this happened to two other people who reserved sites as well.
Either make them all reservable or all first come first get. Or provide much better pictures and descriptions of sites that are reservable.

Our campsite was spacious and large. There were a few inconveniences with it. First, it’s on a hill so it slopes down toward the lake. The camper pad was flat. The tent pad was more or less flat. But the rest is very uneven. It was inconvenient for setting chairs around the fire and setting up canopies. It was difficult for my elderly mother to walk around in. The path down to the lake was steep and very root covered and in some spots difficult to walk down. Nothing unusual, just not great.

Very quiet in the campground. Boaters and skiers are prevalent on the weekends. But only between approved times of 11 am to 4 pm. This gives morning and evening time no wake hours which is nice.

Nice quiet campground. We were able to get cell service lakeside, but not in the lower part of the campground. Our campsite has very uneven terrain. Very sloped and hilly. Large, spacious site. But it’s uneven terrain makes it difficult to park more than one vehicle, walk around or set lawn chairs leveled and sturdy around the fire pit.
