What Guests Are Saying

Harbour Village Resort offers a mix of positives and negatives. Many guests appreciated the location, cleanliness, and amenities such as the pools, mini-golf, and friendly staff. However, several reviews highlighted ongoing maintenance issues, particularly with water slides, and concerns about noise and safety oversight. Overall, the experience seems to vary greatly depending on personal expectations and the atmosphere during the stay.

Everything is broken. Avoid this place, it is a complete joke. No waterslides (they tell everyone that comes that they are "down" but past reviews continually show them "down" for months. Fishing pond only has bullheads, tiny bullheads. Campsites in the woods with electric and water were decent. Security guy was a nice guy. Rent a golf cart, about the only thing our boys enjoyed and everyone seemed to be doing this too. Speed limit is not enforced. Took my 15 year old son far away from the campground to let him drive a golf cart and help in practice driving and staff said they were going to report me unless I stopped. Same staff that allows you to drink and drive your golf cart in the evening hours alongside children, campsites etc...No surprise someone died here in 2025 because of an "accident." This is literally no safety oversight and only a matter of time before another small child is hit and killed by a drunken driver...but heaven forbid I take my son, away from everyone, sober to practice driving

Had serious anxiety about our 6 night stay after scouring these reviews, but with no refunds available there wasn't anything I could do about it but hope for the best. Honestly it was better than I expected.

1. Things were mostly functional and fairly clean. The big water slides were working all but one day (first week of August 2025). The hot tub seemed to be every other day for some reason. The pool deck slides were 2 out of 3. One of the two working slides didn't have water running but the kids didn't care. Big inflatable was about right until our last day when it was noticeably low.

2. Location within the park. We were in the wooded section right behind the adult pool. We were thankful for this, a lot less walking and more visual separation than I'd expect. For our stay it was also quieter. I was thankful to have the A/C running in the camper to drown out the noise at night. I absolutely would not stay here in a tent. Popup with ear plugs maybe.

3. Park was much slower Monday through Thursday. We arrived on a Saturday and it was an absolutely zoo. Kids and golf carts everywhere. If you're there on a theme weekend expect it to be pretty wild.

4. Big party atmosphere. Saw multiple groupings of trailers that made their own group sites complete with DIY bar and loud music. Plenty of loosely supervised children to boot. I imagine most of the reviews complaining about staff bothering them about things were probably in groups like these. Some folks just cannot be told no without their feelings getting hurt. The resort would do well to enforce a lot more rules but that might keep their repeat customers from returning. I did appreciate being able to be poolside with a beverage.

5. Location within Door County - We used this resort as a place to day trip from and it worked well for that. There seem to be more things to do in the southern part of Door county than the northern part so being just north of sturgeon bay was a plus.

6. Final thoughts. I think whether you like this place or not is going to depend a lot on what you want and what neighbors you end up with. If you want state park scenery and quiet this isn't it. If you want the party atmosphere with activities for the kids to do it's not bad. The place seems to be mostly run by high school kids with maybe just a few boomer aged folks that were working behind the scenes. If we had bigger issues with anything I'm not at all confident that they would have been handled. With that lens I now better understand why the reviews are so mixed.

Overall this is a nice campground but it needs work. I've been here about five times in the past 15 years or so. It has been quite a few years since I've been here. While they have some nice amenities (pool, mini golf, etc), there are quite a few ways that this place can be improved. When I entered my site, there was a bunch of garbage and food thrown all over the site. It was the worst condition I've ever encountered in my over 40 years of camping. There were also quite a few things in disrepair (toilets, slides, a blaring alarm that was going on for hours). Also, quiet hours don't start until 11 p.m. People were playing in the playground, laughing, shouting, and making an insane amount of noise well past the time my kids and I go to sleep. While I like many things about this place, I'm not sure if I'll come back.

The cabins were very nice, and they had multiple a/c units, so they were comfortable. They are not big, but they are big enough. The putt putt course was fun. The kids liked the monster truck big wheel/bike contraptions that were available to peddle around. The campground needs to do something about the Canadian geese. Way too much goose poop on the beach next to the small swimming lake. The water slides were not operational. Call ahead to make sure they are working; they look really fun. The swimming pool was a good size and had a good layout. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Called week of to be sure all amenities were working. Was told yes, but they couldn't guarantee "something" wouldn't happen. On arrival found out that slides were not running because they needed inspection! I'm not a park owner but would think that would be important thing to be done before the season starts!
Pretty neat how there are no cancelations, but no discounts when they don't provide amenities promised. To make matters worse, our first afternoon there a rain cloud went over. So they closed pool. Rain stopped after 20 minutes, but pool remained closed. All the life guards left for the day.
Agree with earlier post, website pictures are from long ago.
At the Inflatable pond the inflatables were either over inflated (blob) or leaking. No ladders or steps to get on but 1, so smaller kids really struggled. The beach was covered in goose poop. My wife went in shelter to ask if someone could clean it up, as lots of little kids were playing there. Girl said "you could call someone from maintenance for that". Wife replied "do you work here? Maybe you could contact maintenance " girl wasn't helpful, never did see maintenance...maybe they were all working on slides? Or nonexistent?
I will say I was happy with the showers, clean enough and warm water.
But all in all you need to-
