Cabin was clean when we arrived on 8/10/2021. We cleaned and left as clean as when we arrived. We found boxes of very good new pots and pans, utensils and new mattresses when we arrived the 2nd time on 8/12. We didn’t open the boxes except the kitchen sink set to use while left the other boxes untouched. Future visitors will enjoy those new stuff and mattresses.
We camped near by Granite Campground on 8/11. Beautiful Granite water falls and hot springs are must-see destinations.
In addition, there are many interesting and information reading materials in the cabin.
We had difficulty to open the gate lock at first. It was comforting to know that Ashton Greene is always there to answer questions and willing to help.

This is a great cabin to spend a weekend. It's relatively secluded and it has every amenity you could need. The only thing that was an issue is that all the paperwork we received stated that this cabin had drinking water available during the summer months, but when we arrived all the taps said that the water had not been tested and was consider non-potable. So we had to go out and buy a bunch of water. Other than that, this place was comfortable for four adults and one child.

This was our first time elk hunting in the area. The guard station was in a good location and a great place to stay. This is a rustic cabin experience, just what we were looking for. Our stay was after Labor Day so the water was turned off. No problem, we planned ahead. It got cold but the heater in the cabin kept us warm, even too warm. I would recommend and stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Hoback Guard Station. There were a number of activities and sites to visit within reasonable driving distance. We are going to try to reserve the cabin again this summer.

The cabin was clean and had a nice assortment of items already available. Easy access. secluded, except for a seasonal worker who was painting nearby. Great area to hike or bird watch.
