Site 3. Possibly the best campsite in America. Directly adjacent to the creek on one side and a large rock formation on the other, so it felt very isolated. Extremely quiet. Friendly campground host. Clean bathrooms. Note that other sites at this campground were not so quiet due to a generator. (One guy with a generator can ruin it for everybody else. Please don’t run a generator at a place like this.)

Middle Fork is a very small (only 9 campsites) and beautiful campground that backs up to a lovely creek which made the perfect amount of white noise for sleeping. I enjoyed my morning coffee while walking through the woods and sitting by the creek. The campground is well maintained and has clean bathrooms with vault toilets. During my visit, it just so happened that there was an outdoor wedding that led me a couple of miles down a dirt road that runs beyond the campground and through a quiet community of 22 log homes. The residents I met along the way were very friendly and social.

The host was fantastic, bathrooms nice and clean and supplied. Campers and locals were also very pleasant. Every time i set out for a walk, i ended up talking to someone. The creek is so nice to listen to and sit by, right next to your site. We took a walk up the road at least once a day (there are cabins at end that belong to locals) and took a hike up the hills more than once - no trail. The views at the top were unbelievable (Ill post pics if able)

This is one of our favorite camp sites in the Big Horns. The limited number of campsites and location next to the river with abundant pines for shade and always tidy vault toilets with pristine drinking water close by. Quiet, relaxing and peaceful, yet just 12 mi from Buffalo for supplies. We’ll be back!

Nice small campground with a river running through it. Vail toilets were kept clean by off site camp host who lived down the road at South Fork campground. No firewood sold at Middle Fork, you have to to South Fork campground for that. We were there 6 nights, hardly ever saw the sun. It was cloudy the whole time and rainy. But the national Forest itself is gorgeous. We sold lots of moose, elk, and deer.
