About Middle Fork
Middle Fork Campground is located 14 mi west of Buffalo, Wyoming, adjacent to the Cloud Peak Skyway (scenic byway), near the Cloud Peak Wilderness Area. The Bighorn National Forest offers a wide variety of activities, including hiking, fishing, scenic driving and a number of historic sites. Very well maintained campground, well sheltered in a narrow canyon. Site 5 is right next to the creek. Plenty of level space for a tent. Lots of space between sites.

I like the campground very much, but was rather surprised to be charged an extra $11 for a second car by the campground host. Was that legit or did I get ripped off? It's somehow OK to have a HUGE pickup truck and a 35' fifth wheel, but if you have 2 sub-compact cars you gotta pay extra? Where is the sense in that? Please explain.

Unless you happen to enjoy hearing generator noise all night long while attempting to camp, I would avoid this site and others managed by Gallatin Canyon Campgrounds in the Bighorns and Beartooths. Besides Middle Fork, we tried Deer Park (same management), and encountered a bizarre policy whereby campers were told to leave bags of trash along the campground loop to await a "host" coming by to pick it up "each morning". No trash containers at Deer Park, but encouragement for wildlife to become garage conditioned.

Middle Fork Campground is accessible via U.S. Highway 16, which is approximately 13 miles east of the campground from Buffalo, Wyoming.
Policies & Rules
Cancellation policy
- Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
- Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
- Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
- Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
- One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
- Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
- Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
- Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
