The campground features spacious sites, a great location near the Tie Hack Reservoir, and well-maintained vault toilets. However, some guests experienced early morning noise from tree thinning activities and reported occasional issues with road traffic and wildlife management. Great campground if you have a heavily insulated motor home or travel trailer. I had the misfortune of being in a tent and had to listen to the miserable drone of RV generators from the time I setup camp at 4pm until the time I broke camp at 7:30am. I'm not sure what FS policy is on running generators in campgrounds; most places I have camped have generator bans during quiet hours.

Quiet campground, the friendliest host, gorgeous environment. We stayed in late May for hiking and it was close to many accessible trails (given the high water level for the time of year).
We ended up adding on an extra night because we just couldn’t leave!

As always, our host Peggy is a gem! Because of heavy rains and inclement weather, she was most helpful in relocating many campers whose campgrounds had been closed. We were able to get a FCFS site that was high and dry and so we’re not impacted by the high water. Although the weather was cold and wet (with hailstorms as well as rain) our stay was as good as could be expected under those conditions. Vault toilets were clean and well maintained. As others have noted, it could be an absolutely perfect location if there were reliable cell service. Perhaps it’s time for the National Park Service to step up and use leftover COVID funds to help provide communication for safety and security through Starlink.

Take US Hwy. 16 west from Buffalo, Wyoming for about 12 mi. Then take Tie Hack Reservoir Road (FDR #21) about 0.5 mi to the campground.
The campground is accessible via US Hwy. 16, which is approximately 12 miles east from Buffalo, Wyoming.
